X1

Ive go a brand new loaner X1..(1X?). First of all, The dash is exactly the same as my 09 335 e92 so thats at least 5 years old. Without Comfort Access you have to put key in the dash AND push the start/stop button. Can someone please explain this? Ridiculous.

Some BMWs have CA, some don't. Don't really see a significant problem to be honest. The 1.5 seconds it takes to put a key fob into a slot and press the start button is close to the same time it takes to put an old-school key into an ignition slot then turning the key to start the car. With CA, you save ~0.5 seconds. So to put this into perspective, is losing half a second really a significant inconvenience to ignite compressed air/fuel?

+1. Though it is kind of funny to think that inserting the key and then pressing the button requires an additional step as compared to sticking a key in and turning it in one fluid motion. I'm not complaining, as i actually dont have CA and it doesnt bother me at all. I was just thinking that push button start without CA is really just change for the sake of change. I see no real benefit, other than I guess the remotes won't have a problem of wearing smooth like a metal key could over 30+ years of daily use.

I don't have comfort access (only package I don't have in my car).

I personally feel a bit safer having to put the key in the dash to start. Sure, it's an extra 2 seconds, but I keep my keys clipped to my belt loop anyways... so I just pop off the valet key.

I have a friend with a C63. He's in college like me, and one of his friends jumped in his car and started it while he was leaning on the back of the car speaking to some other friends. The key was close enough... who knows... if the kid wasn't his friend he could not have his car anymore..

Lol but seriously though. CA is a good package to have. I don't have it, but my brother does. It's really nice.

Except for his car unlocking itself all the time when he washes it. Haha.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of push button start either, but it's not as bad as it first seems. I push the key in with my thumb and press the button with my index in one motion, which is not much worse than pushing in the key and turning it.

It does make little to no sense without the CA, but at least it's not that much worse than the traditional key.
