Anyone knows which is the closest color of the vinyl to match the ///M steering wheel trim? The trim started peeling off and I tried the matt black vinyl but it did not match the color. The color of the trim looks dark grey.

Also, any ideas how to remove the ///M badge at the lower part of the steering wheel trim?

I used a satin black vinyl from 3M on my door handle. It was an almost perfect match on my car.

Yes, 3M Scotchprint. I would say it's about as perfect as it can get. I had the standard peeling issues on the door handle. So I had that part wrapped, but not the part right in front by the power window buttons. There's already a seam there, so I stopped at the seam. The wrapped portion is almost indistinguishable from the OEM portion.

I'm assuming you're trying to cover the "soft touch" black portion. If so, this is the closest vinyl I've ever seen.

So, the vinyl can stick on the OEM finish without rubbing all of them off?

hi MAZINGER, yes it will, however most of normal vinyls is only thin so it may show from underneath if there are scratches or pieces of the oem coating are rubbed off...
i would recommend to clean entire coating to make it nice and smooth before applying any vinyls to it...
however being pissed off (or just lazy) with rubbing stuff off i took my steering wheel trim off and wrapped it texturised carbon vinyl which is quite thick and because it is textured you cannot really tell where the oem paint rubbed off... it looks good however not oem finish.

The material will stick to the OEM coating. But if there are scratches or gouges, then it may show through. On mine, it looked pretty ugly, but the satin black covered it without issue and I did not remove the OEM coating. I'm not even sure how you would. I wrapped my steering wheel trim and shift plate as well, but those were in textured CF vinyl.

I've read the only way to remove the OEM coating is to peel it, but it takes forever and doesn't come off cleanly. So it may make the problem even worse.

The peels are near the steering wheel edge (not very serious) but I need to repair it as soon as possible.

M badge is just a sticker and the peeling on the trim can probably be removed with hot hot water and soap just like the center consoles on e46s. Its just a rubberized coating like a plastidip. I would suggest removing the trim, clean, sand it down and just paint it with matte black paint.

You can get it off the Interest or Ebay; shouldn't be that expensive.

i was trying to rub/peel it off without using any chemicals but cause it was painful process i gave up eventually and wrapped in the carbon wrap...

This is what I am thinking. Those rubberized coating may be solid as paint. I don't want to spend the whole day to rub / peel.
