I have an '09. At first I thought the tools were "missing". Then I found out what the deal was. I bought the missing tools for about $7.50... some production cost savings for BMW. Some A-hole bean counter at BMW things E9x drivers are too stupid to properly use a combination wrench ($5.50) or use the emergency sunroof tool ($1.98 and which came in very handy on my E39 when my sunroof f-ed up). I'd like to retrofit the glovebox light. Anybody ever done a DIY on that?

Right but I don't agree that there is no reason to ever have the dealer do anything. If no one even bothered reporting their problems to the dealerships how will BMW learn there is a widespread problem that needs to be corrected and a recall issues where other BMW owners (yourself included) can benefit from a free fix? I understand issues reported to BMW dealers are not the car engineer's only source of information for determining defects but surely it is a large source of their information and determining statistics for how widespread the problem is? Imagine if no one ever reported their long cranks or limp mode experiences... |

Not sure when this started but about a week ago, my car(2011 135i vert.) just stalled on me in the middle of the road. My dashboard lit up like a christmas tree. It threw all kinds of codes, passenger restraint, electrical system, tranny stuck in P, ABS, transmission, error, high battery discharge, daytime running light, and I think there were some other ones. The car just shut off and would only turn on for a split second, lucky I was able to get into neutral and push the car out of the street. Now my car has been at the dealer for a week. They are talking back and forth with BMW, whom wants the dealer to test all kinds of wires.

Back in 2010, I had a 2007 335i. In the middle of a turn, I had a bunch of warning lights on my dash, the car powered off, and I did crash. The car was totaled. At the time, I thought it was related to the HPFP or something, but now this seems like a more likely cause. Too late to sue, but I was injured.

Well my 2010 328i was not effected according to dealership when I was there back 3 weeks ago. I brought the clip issue up and they said it was only on 06 models...
I guess they were BSing me...
