Connected Drive
So I just spoke to BMW about this and informed of the £120 charge and was told I'll get BMW Assist (concierge type thing) and access to the SOS button.
When I asked about sending navigation from google maps down to the car, I was told I have to put it onto a USB flash drive and plug it in. Can I not do it via the email address or whatever it is? £120 seems steep to have a personal concierge style person on the end of the phone and a 999 button when I can do that on my Bluetooth anyway? Thanks, Andy |

If you have professional nav then you can send google map locations to the car or use the BMW Routes on the Owners' section of the BMW website. You don't have to transfer by USB stick.

Don't be fooled into the marketing for the SOS button.
Hopefully you won't have to use it, but if you are in a situation that you have to, then please, use your phone instead. SOS will get you quickly to BMW, but when they transfer you to the Emergency Services, the positioning data is lost, so the Emergency Services don't know where you are, unless you do. Using your phone will allow the Emergency Services to triangulate your signal and see where you are. Bitter experience speaking here! Mike |

It's stupid that if BMW get the exact position from the GPS, as they do, that they can't relay that to the emergency services and simply transfer you...

It depends, obviously, on how much you use it. Mine's included as the car is new but I wouldn't pay to extend it doing the mileage I do. When I was in the 30,000 mile-a-year brigade it was so useful it was almost essential (sending addresses from Google / customer web-sites straight to the car).
The concierge service came into its own last Christmas though when we turned up at a hotel on Christmas Day who had no record of our booking. The BMW concierge sorted it all out for us.
