Yes might get a cheapy replacement 08-1 and see when the new 2010-02 comes out and do an exchange then.

Next on my to do list : Use my DVD Drive as a electric cup holder !!!

Wil -a man of your resource can surely find a replacement to burn onto a DVD.

You might want to think about finding one with a speed camera database

It would be very interesting to see the dealer's response to this scenario. Theory being that you have already paid for a license to use the software and as such the DVD is only the transportable media. They "May" offer a cheap replacement.

Although I don't hold out much hope of Dealer common sense..

Yes, have been thinking about this, I could 'ahem' grab an ISO from the web but are these ok to run of the Nav? I 've heard stories about them locking up running very slow, and if BMW finds a copied disc that's jamed in your NAV they won't repair this under warranty? Will do a search of what best brand of DVD-R and burn the iso at the slowest speed I suppose..

Oh I rung around, you could almost feel the glee by the Stealers over the phone when they quoted me in the £260 for the replacement.

Although well impressed by Anneka from Sytner on this forum, told me it was not worth paying for 2010-01 because not much change to the mapping since 2009..best to hold off.

Unless it's written down explicitly somewhere I would argue that you own the CD and the rights to use the content held on the disc. Therefore you can legally use a backup of the same version if you can get your hands on an ISO if a forum user is kind enough to send you a copy. I have the business edition so I'm no help I'm affraid. I think you would be unlucky to get CD-R wedged in the head unit so I wouldn't worry about going that route. Verbatim Datalifeplus seem to be pretty rock solid discs for longivity.

I'm not suprised BMW won't send you new copy at discount, even if you send them the broken one as proof. After all it is BMW, customer service... wtf is that?

Yep, that would make sense, I still have the Original DVD (in two parts!) so it's not like I'm burning my own copy and selling off my original...

BMW would have given me £40 towards the new one if my original wasn't broken, indeed WTF...probably to sell on to 2007-01 customers as an upgrade for £200 LOL.

It would be great if someone did make a wee iso of the latest disk with cams as it seems to be hard to find for others. My DVD no longer reads in the drive or works for a short while then shows an error. :-(
Nav with no disk isnt the best

Got one from Flea Bay (2009 version and whole lot cheaper than £260 for the 2010 version) will punish myself and not get any Blu-ray movies this month.
