DIY Window Tinting on a E91

Hello all,

I'm wondering if anyone has done this before? I've had previous experience of wrapping so I'm sure I'll be fine doing it. I assume you need to remove the windows. Looking at doing the four rear windows and the boot window.

Is it much work to remove the windows or can you do them in place?

Have you tinted other cars before? I tried an old Camry a few years ago and it was a big fail, so I won't be trying it on the Bimmer. I have also Vinyl wrapped stuff and the vinyl was much easier to work with than tint was imo.

The hardest part is to tint the rear window. If you screw up and take off the tint, you will also need to remove the glue left behind. It's a big hassle. I have tried it on my Honda. I will never do it on a BMW.

Pay the professionals to do it right the first time.

I agree with others, tint is not something I would attempt to do on my own

You drive a nice car, don't wreck it - pay the money and get it done right; I have life-time warranty on mine, so if it ever were to peel/fade/bubble, I'd be back and they'll fix it for free.

you should be fine. dont worry about removing the windows.
just finish the top part first by keep it rolled down little bit, then roll it up and finish the bottom part. do not roll the windows for a 5-6 days, let it dry.
test it out once.
you already have experience of wrapping, you should be fine.
i did my e93 driver/passenger window with the glass rolling up n down.

hes the convertible, he can stop the top dropping half way and have complete access to the back glass. *shrugs*

I've never tinted before though, no patience for it.
