California Tag

Question for you guys. How long does it take for California to send you your plates? I'm in the military and I was in San Diego from the beginning of January to the beginning of March. I purchased a '07 328 on 30 Jan and I still haven't received the tags. A buddy told me it took three months on his truck. Is that typical?

Its hit and miss..sometimes it takes a while..sometimes not. I bought a used Tahoe off a dealership a month ago..nothin yet. The dealerships usually go to the DMV once a week (the ones I know)..and then there is the time at the DMV itself. To answer your question..its normal here.

VERY unpredictable DMV.
My plates for my E92 took about 3 weeks.
My tags for my MDX took 2 weeks after on-line registration renewal.
My tags for my TL took 5 months after paper renewal. When I got tired of waiting, I made several calls and found out they lost my proof of insurance. I sent another copy and 2 weeks later I got my tags.

That is not good. I'm back in Georgia now, and out here the dealer temp tags have dates on them. It is probably only a matter of time before I get pulled over and have to answer a litany of retarded questions. I've never had to wait this long for tags anywhere.

Bad Beat

I got mine about three weeks after purchase in February. I opened up the envelope and found that I was issued xYAYxxx They're still not on, I'm gonna see how long I can go without tags. I'm even considering vanity plates with some random numbers. I just can't drive around with YAY on my ass :-p
