Did you record boost via Torque before your latest mod?

Hi Bob,

I am ideally looking to eliminate EGR (I have iaknown's block plates, not yet installed) and disable the SCR system to avoid costly issues down the road (out of CPO warranty next week), but keep the DPF. I don't want a smoky car, even if I am hammering on it. Extra power is nice, but not the ultimate goal. I commute 140 miles per day and would love for my 11 335d to last for another 100k miles without costly repairs to the emissions system. Is this something that is possible, or recommended?

I live in CT, where we have emissions testing every 2 years. It is a visual inspection, which is why I want to keep the SCR in place for now, but just disable it. The only stipulation is that they check for the readiness codes.

- Would this essentially be a Stage I tune with the addition of the EGR block plates and electronic disabling of the SCR?
- Is there any visual indication on the SCR that it has been disabled?
- Would your tune eliminate all SES codes that would appear due to these changes?
- Would the readiness codes for the emissions system components be in a state so as to not cause an alarm during the code check for emissions?

Thanks.

Chris

Yes, this would be a stage I, plus the emissions disabled. Now with this being said, As I tell all users that leave the SCR filter in place with out the use of DEF, you will clog the filter at some point and it will need to be replaced. In your case, if the DPF is still in place, it does capture 90% of the soot.

Yes & No, in order for the tune to work, you need to unplug the sprayer or remove a fuse

Yes

This we cannot guarantee that your car will pass your state emissions test. As stated in the first post, a tune that disables ANY of the emissions equipment is sold as Off Road Use Only.

How is the smoke on a stage 2 vs a 2+ ? And is there any difference in the fuel economy at, say, normal highway driving?

Stage II: some smoke when you hit the throttle, and then little to no smoke. No smoke under part throttle.

Stage II+: Lots of smoke under full throttle, and little to no smoke under part throttle.

Gas mileage is about the same under part throttle since the maps are unchanged between the two. And as I stated before, this can all change from driver habits.

Would you need any session logs if I were to send my DDE to you to get a stage 3 done? I could record some next week when I hit the drag strip.

Do you have an idea when the work around for the DEF tank will be available as well?

Yes, if you could send me some logs if you hit the track that would be great Also, we have already tested this, if you just remove a few fuses from the ebox and one behind the glove box, it will fire the car right back up and you do no have to run any water or DEF in the tank. I will update the first page later.

You need to remove 3 fuses that control the sensors in the tank.

35 & 58 from the fuse panel inside the car

05, its located inside the ebox. Its in the little white fuse holder

What parameters should I record? AFR, EGT, RPM, ect? If you want to give me a list and an app you prefer I can do that as well. I have an Andriod OS to narrow it down.

Thanks Bob and Randall at BPC and Bohl Diesel; I am up and running. I appreciate the extra time and effort put in to repair circuit board damage by a previous tuner! I know this must have taken you at BPC a lot of extra time.
