Jan 30th, 2011
Car has a CEL.. and it bogs out almost... and hesistates hardcore... when i turn the car off and back on right away.. CEL is gone and car is normal unless i give it so more has to accelerate harder...the CEL comes back and let the bogging begin once again... with my exhaust setup.. the car sounds like a straight piped subaru.... sounds nice.. but sounds like a miss firing... and power is like.. gone... let me know if anyone has any insight! car has no warrenty.. and its booked for a appointment at Calgary BMW on thursday .... Sounds like ignition. Under load you get the hesitation. My friend's E39 540i did the same thing. Turned out to be a bad coil. It still functioned at low loads but couldn't genetrate a large enough current to get the spark plug going. The coil turned white on the top. That's how we found it.

Turns out of my problem was quite simple.. but costly
my car was having a misfire, and hesitation whenever I decide to give it more gas. and the problem was a bad ignition coil... no warrenty sucks and had to eat the bill =( |

You can just intall them yourself. It's really easy. The only trick is finding which coil died.

hahaha well i will consider it next time, bmw when they scanned the key fob it tells you exactly where the misfire is coming from soo they switched the coils up and the misfire changed, so that is how they verified which coil was messed.
