335is DCT
Anyone knowledgable or experienced with the DCT in the 335is. I'm noticing on a few occasions that when in situations in passing other cars ... The car revs high but doesn't change gears right away... I have ease off and then it up shifts... Is DCT slipping?
Also, at what mileage does the dual clutch need to be changed and what's it gonna run me ? Thanks |

Umm....maybe I am misreading but wouldn't you want to be in the power range when you pass and press on the gas? Why would you want low rpm and high gear when you are building up power?

That seems very strange,
so what you are describing, is when you want to pass you mash the pedal but the car just revs likes it’s in natural so instead of accelerating the car is decelerating? I think traction control (aka fun control) is kicking in and killing your power. Repeat what you are doing but with the DCT off, report back.

Thanks guys...it feels like the gear isn't catching and traction related... Similar to when you shift from 3rd to 4th and leave your foot fully on the clutch for 5 secs before you release... I'll turn off the DTC and DSC and let you know if it makes any difference... Again it happens sporadically

You're gonna wanna PM "BuraQ" -- He's probably running one of the most aggressive setups on a DCT 335is. Any questions you'll have, he'll probably be able to answer or point you in the right direction.

Thanks - my car is pure stock and I picked it up last July... The in service date was Jun 24/11... The worst part was that it's supposed to be CPO'ed.... And I took possession with the alignment shot... Possible golf tee mod which they fixed and now when I went to get the tires swapped in for winters... They told me the rears are toast... I only put on 4000km (2500 miles) so far... The car was previously a dealer salesmen in a one year lease.

Take it to the dealer and ask about any software updates to see if that will solve the issue. Any mods on the car?
Anyways, BuraQ knows just about everything related to the 335is so im sure he will chime in

Exact same issue
I posted this awhile back as I had two other Large passengers in the vehicle And from about 45 mph Floored it and the RPM shut up but the vehicle went basically no faster and I thought it was the clutch slipping. All the replies I got centered around the MechTronic controller was not applying the full clutch pressure and that it wasn't the clutch slipping. It's a late 2010 build 335is. I had only 14,000 miles on it when I experienced it. No mods so doubt it was the clutch. Plus others that are at FBO using the DCT transmission aren't having or reporting any issues even with higher output. Sorry for the bad grammar I'm entering this using Siri on iPhone

1) How fast were your going just before your decided to WOT in passing the other vehicle ? 2) Was your Sport button on ? 3) Was DTC on/medium/off? 4) Did you go pass your kick down on the gas peddle ie did your floor it ? Thanks |

I was going around 70km (45mph) with sport button off...in D drive...full DTC on... The car dropped a gear or two... Wasn't looking but heard it... It just didn't kick into gear and I had to fall back out of fear... I didn't punch it fully... I would say 60% given then situation and the throttle I was expecting from the car...
I've driven stick all my life and DCT for 3 months .. So not sure if I did anything that would have caused this... Also, given my rear tires are toast... I am assume the the dealership who demo'ed the car might have abused the LC |

Whenever you are going to get aggressive in your driving turn the Sport button ON and S mode -(if your not acquainted with M mode) |

Nothin specific no, but RENNtech would not flash their tune on my car unless I got that update so there must have been something of importance
Previous to the update when I shifted their was a lot of kick in the engagment of each gear. After the update the gear to power transition was alot more smoother with less kick and roughness Car will feel slower at first because the adaptive driving will be reset after module update |
