Could be stock looking and sounding, but flashed by euro tuner of some sort. But in no way 500 bhp. Check and recheck first. Then install a reliable tune, just to be on the safe side. You don’t want to limp in the middle of the race and loose to a stock Saab. And finaly, hand his ass to him.

2002? There was no V6.

I had the V6 turbo engine the first year it was out, 2007. It was actually very quick after I chipped it, 260whp in a 3200lb car, with an absolutely obscene amount of torque. Quicker than a stock 335i from a roll. I did a few pulls with a buddy from 40-120, and the saab would end up 4+ car lengths ahead by 120 every time.

If he does have the V6 Turbo (one exhaust outlet on each side of the bumper) with a chip he would take you from a roll if he has an auto or can drive at all. You'd probably still have him from a stop, as first is completely worthless, and second isn't much better.

is it even possible to stuff a V8 in a saab 9-3? saab never even produced a V8. the V8 in the 9-7x is a GM sourced unit and will cost a small fortune to stuff under the hood of the 9-3. i doubt it is even possible, but if it were, i wouldnt even want to imagine what the weight distribution and torque steer would feel like.

it is more believable that he boosted the crap out of a turbo'ed 4 or 6 cylinder engine to make 500 hp which would be obvious by listening to the engine. haha 500 hp would tear that chassis apart! not only would it require major chassis stiffening and drivetrain reinforcing, it would also need some serious rubber just to put down half of that power. again, the wheels/tires would be a dead giveaway if he is in fact making that power.

in either case, i definitely call BS!!! i would totally race him for $500 or $5000 and shut this punk up.

he's trying to bluff you. if his car was actually faster he'd a raced for a tank of gas. he said "$500" because he hopes you won't race at all and it looks like he has won. I would call the bluff, except I would probably raise the stakes. Tell him you will only race for pinks. There's no way he's stupid enough to do it and then you win by default. (OK JUST KIDDING!). What if you add a tune and you happen to limp on the one race? Or what if you don't hook up right because you're not used to driving with so much torque? Or any of a million little things go wrong for that one race, so that yes, maybe your car is faster but you happen to loose this race? The dude sounds like a douche. Don't indulge him.

to make 500hp in a evo your gonna have to put like 15k into it. it would prolly be as much if not more in a saab. i mean fully built engine. possibly a stroker kit. and most likely running meth. and no guy who puts that much in the engine leaves the exterior stock. especially a douche bag like this kid who is trying to show off.
