Ok to wax new car?
Sorry if this is a repost, but I can't seem to perform any searches right now. My dad recently got a new Honda Fit, and I was just wondering how long I should wait before I wax it? I've heard reports that say I should wait up to a whole year before it's safe to wax the car....
I waxed my e90 a week after I got it, but my friend claims that japanese car paints take longer to dry, and by waxing it too soon, i could disrupt that natural curing process. Any truth to that?

The amount of urban myth floating around is astounding. Hasn't anyone ever watched Overhaulin on TV? I'm pretty sure I saw them spray in a booth that was heated after the car was painted.

You can bake or not bake a repaint. Even baked repaints usually require some wait time before you seal the paint because body shops can't bake at the same temps as factory (since all the glass, rubber, plastic etc is on the car). The exception of course is if they spray the car without all that stuff installed, or if they remove the panel, spray, and then bake it.

Great, thanks guys for the advice. I went ahead and applied 2 coats of zaino as soon we we brought the car home (waiting for the 3rd coat to dry as we speak). The car feels smoother than when it came off the lot!

New cars need to be washed and waxed. Clay-barred too if you're up for the effort. There's rail dust that has to be taken off when transporting the car to here, and if not, it'll stay on and be damaging to the paint. Plus, nothing like a shine that you can only get with a good quality wax

I put 2 coats of Rejex on my 328 when I brought her home. Washing off all the salt (I'm in the East Coast) and just washing the car in general is so easy. I'm glad I did it. With a color like Montego Blue...I have to keep the car clean!

I have a bottle of Rejex also due to some good reviews from other forums, but I found that the durability (if judged by the ability to still bead water after a few weeks) doesn't seem up to par with other products - Zaino. It does give the car a nice shine and a smoother feel though, but I don't think the protection is up to par.
