I have read many tutorials and watched many videos, however I am not able to get passed step 1.

The instructions are fairly simple. First I hold 1 and 3, the light starts flashing rapidly to clear memory. Afterwards at the same time I click the button on the remote control that opens the garage and hold number 1, it is suppose to start flashing slowly but then rapidly.. and it never does.

I have tried different distances, checked the battery in the garage door opener and all is fine. I have been able to successfully pair both remote controllers and a keypad.. so the problem can't be with the garage it self.

Anyone has had any luck with lift-master?

Car is a e92 2011.

There's something you have to do with the actual garage door unit itself. There's a button on there you have to press to learn

Thanks for the reply, correct that is step 2. I can't get passed step 1.

I had to hold mine just an inch or two away from the mirror. It took a couple tries but it should work eventually.

Once you get to step 2, ignore what's in the owner's manual. The correct instructions should be on the opener unit.

I tried so many distances that my neighbor came out asking me if everything is okay. Step 2 I am suppose to go back and press the learn button come back and press the same button I started the programming with.. but I can't get to that step cause step 1 doesn't want to cooperate. Do you have lift master?

just press the garage door opener button for learning anyway, then press button 1(car) and your garage door opener lights should flash
