Bluetooth voice command crashes?

I have had my 325i (no iDrive) since March with bluetooth working fine. Just recently, whenever I try to use the voice commands to dial a number, it will simply go into 'Voice command' mode on the stereo and never prompt me with the voice. It seems the software crashes at this point, because none of the buttons on the entire stereo are responsive anymore.

I can cure this by placing a call on my phone manually, which the car then picks up and the controls will work again. That call, however, will not work via the system as far as microphone/speaker, it just knows there is a call going on.

Subsequent manual calls will work fine, so its just the voice command stuff that is hosed. Anyone experience this?

Clearly a problem that cannot be solved here. Make an appointment at the dealer asap - and please report back here so that if someone else runs into this, they'll at least know what it is.
