´Brake Pads. Replace !´WTF ?
Hi all, needs some advice if anyone can help..... Coming home last night I got the above warning message come up on the I-Drive and the warning light on the centre console is permanently on. The I-Drive service indicator says the rear pads need to be replaced in 9,000kms and the fronts in 25,000. So why am I getting this message ? It doesnt even tell me if its the front or back that need replacing ?
I mentioned on another thread recently that I could hear a squeaking noise at low speed so I guess this must be the pads. So: 1. Could there be a pad problem, but they are not necessarily worn ? or 2. They are worn and the service indicator interval for them has not been set correctly ? (The car has done 53,000kms) Do you think I could go to an independent garage if they do need replacing, does it really matter if they are OEM's or not ? I really wanted to get everything done when the service was due in 7,000kms to save labour costs etc, but looks like that ain't going to happen cheers |

Takes 30 mins to swap the pads over, so get an indy to do them, I did them on mine and reset the service light.
However if it is still showing 7000km till they are dure not sure what is going on there? I would do them all and reset the indcator again. Probably €150 all in? |

Andy, from one of your posts in another thread:

As Oli suggests, I'd take it in to your dealership & let them sort it out for you. All the best. Viv |

Same here. Mine thought I'd done 30k miles on pads, but had done nowhere near that much.
