Hi all,
Been reading the thread because of mine will expired on September 1st.
Lots of good information but still have some questions and maybe fellow users will be able to help.

I have 2008 328i with no iDrive, no Navigation, currently at 36k miles.
Average driving per year 10k - 12k.

Got a quote from FORD ESP.
6 Years 60k at $2070
6 Years 75k at $2725
6 Years 100k at $3545

7 Years 60k at $2575
7 Years 75k at $3525
7 Years 100k at $3905

My questions are:
1. Are those prices might be better than the BMW ones? I haven't shopped around for BMW prices. Only seen the LIST price that was posted in #225.
2. If they are not. Anyone would like to share which dealers might have the best price?
3. Does the FORD ESP coverage is better than the BMW ones?
4. Based on what everyone posted looks like the extended "warranty" isn't the same as extended "maintenance". Does anyone know the list price for extended maintenance so we can use it to negotiate? or maybe if you can share what you've paid that could be helpful for others too?
5. Is it worth it to get extended maintenance? or just go to indy shop for maintenance.

I hope whoever answer these questions will help fellow users that are in the same situation as mine.

Thanks Guys
I received a quote for "maintenance" only 2 years or 100k miles for $2241.
Apparently I already purchased the extended warranty to 7 years/75k when bought the car. I guess need to pay attention next time. lol.

Is that a good price for a maintenance only?

maintenance plans aren't worth it, unless you put a LOT of miles on the car, and always want to take it to the dealer. Otherwise, you **might** get a set of brakes and a couple or three oil changes out of it. You'll pay less at an indy for the same service, and have money in your pocket.

Cool! Thanks!!

Yeah, I have a low mileage car and thinking to keep it for a few years.
My guess is that my next big service would be when my car hit 50k while it's already out of warranty.
If you think the cost of flushing all them fluid (brake, tranny), oil change, and possibly another brake service will still be less than what they quoted me, I will go with the Indy shop then.

Take your service records and see what has been done, and when, and look at the service predictor on the car and see what it says is coming up. Then you can add up costs and see. Note a transmission flush is not "recommended service" and would not be covered in any case.

In most cases, the numbers come up in favor of not buying the maintenance contract.

I just called these guys below and they were over $1000 cheaper than the dealership I bought my car from. 7/100 Platinum for $3250 vs $4295.

Wow. Just about to pull the trigger on a warranty and would love to get a quote from them. Read through that thread. Who did you talk to? Adam or Jim?

One thing that might throw a little monkey wrench into the equation is...You need a key read the same day you purchase the warranty and dealerships may not do this for you if the intent is to purchase a warranty at some other dealer. Not sure, but worth mentioning.

Any advice on said friends would be appreciated.

Thanks.
From what I understand you can get a prorated refund on alot of the extended warranty plans if say2 years in you don't want it anymore, might apply if they won't cover for mods.

Is xi more expensive than non-xi? I paid ~2500 for my 7/70k gold from Schaeffer BMW.

I also got a quote for ~1700 for maintenance plan from them.

Negotiated my extended warranty for a 328 xi MT (no nav) down from $2198 to $1800 out the door (Tax included)

100k Miles and extended to 2015

I drive about 1k a week so I'll hit the 100k sometime next year :/

Still a pretty decent deal.

What is the difference in the extended, gold, platinum and "race" warranty? I'm not sure if the dealership was bsing with me but they said that they have a race package which is a oil change at 5k miles, tranny and diff oil change at every 30k miles, and free product replacement at ever turn. They said it was 5k but it seems tooooooo damngood to be true. Has anyon ever hear of this?!?! They said that also if I get bmw perf items, they r in the waranty as well to be replaced such as rotors and free refinishing on CF ever 4 years and spring replacement in every 15k miles...... pleaaasseee tell me this is true! The waranty aparently lasts for 75k miles or 4 years...btw this was at. Long beach bmw, the guy I was talking to seemed pretty clueless, anyone around that can clear the clouds for me?

It really is. You can read up all you want about how to please a woman, you can look at all the diagrams in the world, but just like the clitoris, you won't know what the hell an apex is before you actually find it.

Was this their April 1 special? I think the guy was either pulliing your leg, or on drugs. First off, extended warranties do not cover any wear items. BMW's extended **maintenance** contracts cover the same things as the orignina "free" maintenance.

Racing voids most extended warranty contracts, in any case.

In Canada (outside of Ontario and Quebec)

I've been looking for some pricing information for my 335xi which is about to have the factory warranty ending soon.

I've been told that it is critical to buy the extension before the factory one ends, which I can understand.
The company that does this (when purchased at the dealer) is called.

Coverage One and the product is called the Ultimate.

https://www.coverageone.ca/mic/uwc/j...s_ultimate.jsp

Can anyone give me your experience with this specific company or product?
I believe it is Motors Insurance Corporation that is the company behind CoverageOne.

Much thanks!

Damn I knew it lol actually I don't remember what day either! I kinda figured that they don't. Cover race applications, but I've heard more than once that if you buy and get bmw perf items from the stealership, it can come w/ warranty that covers some things such as a pad and rotor replacement good for 1 change ? Heard it was like buy half off warrantywise something like 1k?

So dumb question but gonna ask anyway, it may even have already been answered somewhere before:

If I live in VA and buy an extended warranty plan from another state because it has a lower price, will it be honored anywhere I go or will they reject it at my local dealerships? Also, will these other places even sell one to me if I cannot be there in person?

I live in virginia. I bought my extended contract and maintenance plans in maryland bc I found cheapest there. I have never had extended warranty work done anywhere other than virginia. So, no it does not matter where you buy from. The warranty is a national one and is in the system linked to your car so any dealer will see it.

And don't pay taxes on the contract! If they try to pull that on you, go elsewhere.
