Question Odd occurrence. All settings lost. Ideas why?

When I went out to my car this morning I quickly noticed all radio presets were lost and upon further investigation I noticed every setting in the whole car was reset. I went through my iDrive screen by screen and had to reset everything to my liking. Literally every setting was restored to factory settings. Ever have this happen? Something to worry about?

Did you have a long crank? Happened to me when I had a "increased battery discharge" issue.

Did you inadvertantly use the other key fob?

But if your trip odometer was also reset, this most likely indicates a low battery charge.

No it started just fine. I put it in the garage last night and this morning the issue. It is going in for service Tuesday. I'll add this to the list of things for them to check out. Thanks for the reply.

I didn't use the other key fob. I have it scheduled for service on Tuesday so I'll just run this by the tech's then. Thanks for replying.

I have had this happen once or twice. What happened is it probably didn't register your settings.

If you shut your car off and put your key back in, chances are on startup settings are just fine.

If it happens multiple times, chances are the battery in your FOB is dead. Your car charges it every time you put the key in, and if the battery dies you could lose the settings since it would take a long time to recharge and read them.

Thanks for the thought. You're probably right about this.

Just as a reminder to avoid this turning into yet another thread where this issue is confused, only NON-Comfort Access fobs are charged in the slot. If you have Comfort Access, buy a CR2032 battery anywhere for $2-3 and see if that helps.
