TCU has BMW Assist, ULF doesnt. ULF theoretically is simpler in built, but is more friendly to variety of phones.
to play music, you need to retrofit 6FL kit (USB/Audio Interface SA 6FL Retrofit). |

and more.... taken from different forum
the ULF and TCU modules are two different components that can provide Bluetooth capabilities. The ULF is solely dedicated to Bluetooth. The TCU does a lot more, but only the newer modules have Bluetooth and Voice Recognition. Ironically, the TCU is about ½ the cost of a ULF. Here is a high-level summary of the two. There may be more differences, because this is largely based on observation from the BMW community. * All ULF modules provide Bluetooth * Only the newer TCU modules have the Bluetooth feature * Most ULF modules have built-in voice recognition * ULF has voice recognition enabled in the factory default coding * Only the newest TCU modules have the voice recognition feature. * TCU has voice recognition disabled in the factory default coding * NavCoder can enable and disable voice recognition in both TCU and ULF modules * ULF has the complete VR instruction set that includes navigation commands * TCU only has the telephone-related VR instruction set |

no, this is not the module which you use for retrofit 6FL. It doesnt have socket for USB cable. You can only use it as bluetooth module.

I have 6FL option already. I ordered my car without premium package which is why i do not have bluetooth. If I add this, provided I am prewired, then all I need to do is code and I will have bluetooth in my car? That is all I want, bluetooth with ability to use steering wheel phone control.

Hi ya,
I am trying to retrofit a bluetooth, usb and aux to my 2007 1 Series E87 LCI. I have the CCC Business radio with GPS already fitted, coming with the car when I bought it. I have installed the cables from the trunk of the car to the front. I have installed a brand new MULF2, I have hooked the USB/AUX port but I haven't well fitted the microphone yet. The microphone is connected to the MULF but I haven't pulled to the front yet. But I have tried and no sounds is coming when i speak. I have the bluetooth menu working and sound is coming up when I call someone, so I know that the bluetooth is working. But people on the other hand cannot hear me. I think I need to tweak the microphone. Aux is working as it was before. My big problem is the USB which doesn't work at all. It doesn't appear in the menu. When I connect it to NCSExpert I have errors coming up. I can't even connect to the MULF. I don't know what to do. Is there someone that can help me remotely? It would be nice. Cheers |
