Stopped by the Police tonight.

Through a series of events - wife sold her car, Mondeo family hack battery not good (for those who have done safety courses, the holes in the Swiss Cheese have lined up!!) - my wife took the E91 to a Charity meeting, along with a couple of her colleagues. She's only driven it 3 times before, and then for only a couple of miles, in daylight. So she was a bit nervous as she doesn't like to drive an unfamilar vehicle (never mind something with four times the power of her old car). Coming back into town from the event, she gets pulled over, which is a new experience for her.

Now I don't know if it was just a line the BIB were spinning, as an excuse to pull her over, but they said the reason they stopped her was that there had been a spate of high value cars like this being stolen from local car parks. The scumbag crooks are said to be using a jammer so the car doesn't lock properly from the remote. They had obviously done a PNC check on the car before they stopped her, because they knew it wasn't registered in her name.
They did the usual check round tyres etc, but didn't comment on the slightly dodgy numberplate.

Not her day really. First the Mondeo refused to start easily, so she didn't trust it to do a journey, then she took the E91 to her Mother's, and she couldn't start that either. It was an easy fix though - I just told her that to start the car she had to have her foot on the brake!!

Ho hum - at least she wasn't speeding!

Mike

Minor inconvenience and good to see that the BiB are trying to be proactive with car crime...

Jammers are still being used. I would be happy to have been pulled over to make sure the vehicle was in order.

Love BIB xx

Got a document through the other day testing jammers and home made jammers. BMW came out well compared to many others.

I have an Amateur Radio license, and gear for the 70cm band.
Doesn't require much power to blank a small keyfob on this band tbh.
It's been this way for decades.

Indeed. The lock/light action in my car is practically inaudible/unnoticeable anyway, so I always, always double check the car upon leaving it!

Why don't you get it coded back in?-less than 5 minutes work and worth it imo.

It's one of the many things I have on my list for Makkan to do if I ever get chance to catch up with him!

Yes, I do keep forgetting to get the alarm beep coded on. Jason has offered to do it a dozen times.
