Porsche Panamera Turbo S

http://www.worldcarfans.com/11103283...month---report

According to a recent report, Porsche will unveil the Panamera Turbo S sometime next month.

While nothing is official, the timeline matches up with the New York and Shanghai Auto Show. Furthermore, the original Turbo debuted at Auto Shanghai 2009 so it seems possible that the S could be introduced in China.

Under the hood, power will reportedly be provided by a twin-turbo 4.8-liter V8 engine that develops 550 PS (405 kW / 542 hp) and over 800 Nm (590 lb-ft) of torque. This should enable the hatchback to accelerate from 0-60 mph in less than 3.8 seconds and hit a top speed in excess of 188 mph (303 km/h).

If the reports are correct, the Panamera Turbo S will start arriving at dealerships in late June or early July.

Note: Panamera with Sport Design package shown

I still think a Turbo 8 can do better than that...550 HP odd isn't exactly amazing, the torque is not bad though.

Not that you need the power, just saying.

Porsche is notoriously conservative with their estimates. I bet that thing hauls.

It's official! 550bhp, 590 lb/ft torque. I'm still not sold on the looks of this car and I've seen it a lot, but you can't deny the performance is amazing!

One of the early PTT's.

Car and Driver Testing results for Panamera Turbo (MSRP $147,945 as tested)

0-60 3.3 sec
1/4 mi 11.7 @ 119mph
Braking 70-0 in 159ft
Skidpad 0.92g

Luxury, passenger room, some utility, handles like hell and moves like a scalded cat. Works for me.

Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't C&D do slight rolling starts for their 0-60 times?

They always include a rollout, which is why it's annoying when people quote their recorded figures.

So if that's true, how inaccurate are their figures?

That's fucking dumb, they should at least have a bold ass disclaimer next to those figures. Are they too broke to afford clutches they're worried about frying?

Yeah, C&D always do like a 1 ft rollout or something and get figures that are faster than everybody else.

A slight roll will knock about 3-4 tenths on average. Meaning it is still quicker to sixty than many factory cars. Not to mention those weighing as much as a B52.

..back to this delicious tuna sambish.

Why do they even do the rollout?! It just gives more favourable (and inaccurate) figures.

3.9 is the realistic 0-60 for the Pan TT. Still incredibly fast for the big, heavy sedan that it is.
