Faulty glow plugs
Hi all,
I took the car to the mechanic, last week. He checked for fault codes and it seems that for cylinders 3-4, glow plugs are out. Basically one is dead and the other one is about to die. The engine is sounding rough and some noises are coming from the engine bay when the engine is cold. Question is: It is OK to run the car? until the parts arrived... thanks alot!!!! Take it back. It's Glow Plugs not bugs
Yes it's fine to run, they only work at start-up. |

There's some interesting info on this page as to what else glow plugs do in some engines:

Not totally correct; the glow plugs on a modern direct injection CI engine aid the smooth running and more importantly the exhaust emissions during a cold start. Truck engines (again, all DI engines) don't have glow plugs.
