Dealer refusing to fix WG rattle

Took my car in. Showed the SA and tech the loud wastegate rattle while the car was parked. They kept it over the weekend and tried it this morning. They agreed that the rattle was very loud and the tech "inspected" the wastegates to confirm they were working properly.

Based on it not throwing any codes they are saying there is nothing they can do for me and i still have to pay the $145 for inspection.

How can i escalate this? BMWNA? My rattle is louder than any 335 i have ever seen...

Thanks

They didnt do anything. They recognize the noise and say it shouldnt happen but does happen on 335's and are just trying to charge me the $145 inspection fee.

SAME thing happend to me, but i just went up to the service advisor and asked what i have to do to get my car inspected under the warranty because i hear rattling when i go through tunnels and accelerate at low rpms. she said its normal and that if there is no codes on the dash we cant do anything about it.. i just ignored her and walked away.. let me know what you do.

Busy day at the office but i sent a quick email to BMW NA. When my water pump went out they helped me with my old dealer. Let's see how it plays out...

A Slight Rattle is normal, it's the turbo spooling, but you shouldn't have any rattle past I think 1500 - 2k RPM, anything past that is no longer normal.

Mine is extremely noticeable when i am driving and lift off the gas it will rattle very loud. Also getting off freeways as the car is slowing down i hear it badly. I have never heard another 335 with rattling this loud to be honest with you.

I just went through this, BMWNA did a 50% cover of the replacement costs for me as I got two new turbos and associated bits. It was still expensive but now it is warrantied again.

Good luck man !
A lot of things depend on SA.
Try changing the dealership or try to talk to another SA.

I got my convertible roof checked for rattling sound. dealership kept my car overnight.
I was driving a loaner. my car is in extended warranty. They couldnt find any specific place of sound.
They did not charge me anything. I think it depends on dealership to dealership.

if you are under cpo it should be covered pay your 50.00 co pay and be out the door why are they playing games. My SA showed me how much it would have cost without the warranty provided by BMW and alone BMW was paying them 6,200.00 which means out of my pocket would have been about 7,000.

Try a different dealership.

Every turbo should have some acceptable rattle, the problem comes into play when it becomes sloppy loud and no longer holds boost.
