This was from my SA after I sent him the letter posted by "raleedy". It sounds like the dealership is informed of repairs by BMWNA. Doesn't say whether it gets marked with a "D" with under 3% damage or over 3%.
"The ships try to steer clear of bad weather to avoid stuff like this. But occasionally there is damage during transport and BMW follows its protocols. Damaged cars that can be fixed is repaired and noted in the computer. BMWNA places a link labeled with a big “D” next to the VIN number in the computer. There is nothing worse than having to tell a customer that their car was damaged during transport…" |

I am wondering if the dealer can offer a discount over the negotiated price if the car had any repaired damage. That would be easier than taking the car to an auction I suppose.
According to some people on this forum, it may take a few weeks for a damaged car to be repaired at the VPC. Having so many damaged cars can even make the repair time longer. I would rather wait a few weeks to get a new car if that's the case (and a discount is not offered) than waiting to get a repaired car. |

Check out this thread over on e60.net. It shows a picture of how the cars are "tethered" for shipment.
http://forums.e60.net/index.php?show...dpost&p=516859 Also, in this post (few post downs), it talks about how there are 4 of these tethers on each car, and they can hold 2000 lbs. each http://forums.e60.net/index.php?show...dpost&p=517969 |

Yes, I hope all of our cars have had a bumpy, but damage free ride on the Courage.
If they are all ok, we will have to get "I survived the Courage" bumper stickers made up! lol |

Just got this update from my CA:
"We are still awaiting "official word" from BMW regarding this situation. My understanding is that your convertible was located in a different cargo hold and not among the damaged. We will not know for sure until the vehicle is thoroughly inspected when the Courage docks in Charleston. I believe that one of my European delivery customers was not so lucky. (All of the European delivery tourist vehicles were located in the hold where the lashings came loose). As promised I will be keeping in touch as soon as I receive solid confirmation." |

I got them from **********s: http://www.**********s.com/product.a...=Miro_Type_346
PM Ron or Don @ ********** and tell them what you have in mind. I got the 19 M6 gunmetal replicas with TPMS pre-installed BMW wheelscaps and General tires (Front: 245x35x19 Rear:275x30x19). The offset that I went with is Front: et35 and Rear: et33 (keep in mind that I am awaiting an e92 so that et33 for the rear should be just fine ) If everythin with my 335 is fine and it is not damaged, I will post pictures of before and after with some review of the wheels and tires.

no damage
On Wednesday the CA said my new E92 335i was not damaged according to BMW NA and estimated delivery to be Monday 21Jan. He didn't mention anything about the damaged cars being in a different hold, but it does make sense that cars are on levels or holds and the damage was limited to the level/hold where one or more cars broke lose and pin-balled-around.
My neighbor thinks I'm nuts having a set of wheels "waiting" for my car to arrive. LOL |
