Lightbulb Quad Exhaust System / Upgrade

Ok, So the baby is on board, Finances are easing up a little, wife is busy with the new born... I guess it is time for me to look after my Babe (E93)
I am planning to change my OEM exhaust system into a quad Exhaust system.
Well, I am after a slight improvement in Performance, a slight upgrade in the car sound aggressiveness and certainly a more appealing rear.

Has anyone gone from a 2 tips/One muffler to a 4 tips/2 muffler on his E92/E93.
Do you have a shop to recommend for this mod?
I know few ones in Hong Kong, but I am not interested at all in the Japa exhaust systems. I am more looking for a European one, and yet without paying a fortune for that..

Your thoughts and input please.

Thanks

You'll need to create additional mounting points under your 323 to get a "true" dual-muffler system on... Assuming it's quality you're after, most aftermarket systems (Bastuck/Supersprint/AE+many others) have hangers designed for the 335. A proper installation will probably involve some light welding. That said, it shouldn't be unreasonably difficult and the second muffler will fit under your trunk just fine.

I've seen an excellent example of a white, quad-tipped E92 323/325 parked at the Center, complete with tinted windows and if I remember correctly, a full M-tech bodykit. If the owner of that car is around he can probably point you in the right direction...

p.s. if you search around there's also a budget example of a custom "quad" on a 325/330 in the states. That guy basically welded a bypass pipe out of his OEM muffler to create the right-side exhaust... there are plenty pics in that thread....

Good luck with your mods and keep us posted!

Hamann is also one of the choices to consider. Please ensure your choice of kit suit 323 (original single muffler) as there is no default space for second muffler if required. Normally you can only go after single muffler solution with bypass pipes to tee-out. Also you will need to consider either replacing your rear bumper or do a custom cut.

Good luck!

Thanks Guys...
I've been under the car and took out the cover protector that reside under the driver seat side. Emmm.. I can roughly tell that a 2nd same size of my current muffler would fit... Not quite sure about it though...
I have been in touch with Duke Dynamics sales for the Quad CF Diffuser...

I am having a problem to find a decent shop to help with this mod... I kind of find it weird with all these BMW/MB cars I see in HKG, most mod shops are Japa cars oriented...

I will keep on searching on Mr. Right Shop to do the work; and will keep you posted

Fellow forum user to fellow forum user: be very careful with Duke Dynamics. Search around and you'll see a VERY mixed bag of reviews. Fitment is often an issue, particularly with their quad M-tech diffusers.

I've researched this issue ad nauseum when I installed quads. My shop ended up helping me custom-mold the diffuser in Shenzhen and it all fits perfectly now. I'll PM you the name/contact.

Well I've been again this late afternoon, as I was a little suspicious to why pple are saying that it is not as easy as that, and pulled again the cover protector. I can see that in the E93 trunk, under the carpet, there is a kind of box dropped down few inches. Looking underneath properly, I can see that No, a second muffler won't fit as easy as I thought and would probably need to be custom made..

Anyways, I will get the lifted up properly so I get to look into this without keeping on guessing...
Does anyone know if the E93 323/325 sold in HKG, has the same exhaust as the E93 328i sold in the US??

What I am trying to do is install into my 323 (1 muffler exhaust) a dual mufflers with 4 tips.

If it happens to have any threads on that, much appreciated.

Noel, the driver side of the trunk for non-335 located the battery so you found "a kind of box dropped down few inches". I have tried this similar topic myself and at the end hammer on 1 muffler solution (also because I don't want to alter the ACS bumper).

Not sure why u need dual mufflers to get 4 tips, if you only want to have the 4 tips look, you can get something like Hamann and they have 1 muffler with 4tips, thats what my friend had put on in his E90 330i and is perfect fit. It is just some extra pipes from one side to another.

However, I just called Hamann for you, they said dont have 4 tips muffler for 323i. But certainly you can follow this direction. If no other brands can do, maybe you can buy their pipes only and custom make with the exhaust you will buy, and put together in one of those local exhaust shop.

I believe the white quad-tipped E92 323/325 with full M-tech bodykit tha bro. ArktisE92 mentioned was the one that I've meet several weeks ago, here are some photos (this BMW is owned by the brother of the chairman of hk BMWOC)

As shown in the photos the quad-tipp only has 1 muffer & nozzle only on the driver side, hope this can help

Buddy this is a genuine E92 M3 with upgraded aftermarket exhausts... I've seen this car up close in the Elements parking lot a couple times. The underside layout is, understandably, very different from non-M E92's...

I think that this is not the one u've seen in the Elements. In fact this is not an m3, it's just an e93 with capacity of 2,500 c.c. only as shown on the licence.

One more photo of it's rim tells it's not an M as the break disc is not drilled & much much smaller

Also the right exhaust has no muffler but a nozzle only

OMG... what fake!!!! That's some bodykit--the hood, front and rear bumpers are all quality work...

The funny wheel offsets were somewhat of a tell but your pic of those brakes is pretty conclusive... thanks for the correction

Obaibai, thanks for the photo...
Would not guess this what was done to the white E92, If did not go under the car.
I will keep this as my last option...
What I am thinking of is ordering a 323/325 exhaust from a reputable company
Eisenmann/AE/Supersprint, than have a local shop (Yet to find this shop) custom make the right side muffler with the 2 tips...
This bring me to another question... Can I have 2 mufflers with 2 different sizes? And not affect performance or have a funny exhaust sound???

Whiteboard: Thanks for checking with Hamann pal :-)

I have done further research and found out that Supersprint has a new Muffler, Rear exhaust kit R. OO80 - L. OO80, Part#981606... It has for tips, 2 for each side.
The muffler sits where the OEM muffler is at...
I saw the muffler here in Hong Kong, they want to charge me 18K for it... (Hahaha)
Does anyone know where I can get these from the US? Will still need the Cat and the manifold... I believe no point to only change the muffler, am I wrong??

It's a balance of cost vs. expected benefits...

If your primary goal is a "better" exhaust note, it may not be a bad idea to start with the muffler and work your way up incrementally. The muffler alone will produce a tangible difference. Then again exhausts are a very personal thing--if mufflers alone don't cut it for you there's the option of going upstream with the x-pipe and then the cats...

Personally I wouldn't go for the whole header+cats+xpipes enchilada unless I'm hellbent on squeezing every last pony out of the system. You'd probably gain at max 5-10 whp in an NA setup (which #s are a big stretch), at the cost of HK$30k+... trust you'll have better places to invest your dime

On pricing--your quote seems very high. My x-pipes and two mufflers came out to less than HK$18k...

Well, Mods is a never ending process... There will always be something that you want to change/upgrade or modify, even if it comes to your "Rear View Mirror"
As many of us, I have a long, long list of Mods... True though, that priority comes first.
I have emailed a couple of online sellers for the Supersprint I am looking for... Will go first with the Muffler, than walk up the to the manifold, as you have suggested...
My ultimate will be as final touch on my mod, a "Turbocharger" from ESS (Still have a long way to reach there...)
Yeah I know Mods bought in HK are a rip off... I am searching for this particular SP (1 muffler 4 tips)
If anyone out there know where to get this, PM me

Thanks Arktis
