Took the dslr plunge...D90

Well, just ordered my first dslr, a Nikon D90 with the 18-105mm lens...I am very and can't wait to get it. Im going to Yellowstone NP in two weeks and hope to get some practice in before hand. Any tips on settings/programming/etc... are welcome! Ill post pics when it comes in

Vivid picture control, +3 saturation I think. Crank it up imo. The Nikon looks best that way.

Set it in manual and leave it there. Learn how aperture (f/ stop), shutter speed, ISO and white balance each impact your images.

Where in Yellowstone you headed? I was there a few weeks ago. Great pics. See if you can borrow a 300mm+ for wildlife pics. I used my 200mm and 400mm quite a bit.

I've honestly not tried it at normal. lol. I liked the results at vivid and left it there. So much for experimenting.

Not sure where we are going bc my dad planned it...Im going with the family as a celebration that my younger sister just finished her masters (I finished in Dec) and that all the "kids" are outta the house.

About borrowing a 300mm, Ill see if I can get my hands on one. Im honestly a bit scared of the camera as I know there will be a steep learning curve, but should be fun and hope to take at lease a few good pics. For the first couple hundred/thousand pics, I plan on staying out of manual mode so I don't get too discouraged lol
