incorrect. The 'is' is a factory exhaust for the E92/3 which has a different mid pipe than the E90. You can "make it fit" but the tips will not fit length-wise.

I believe the 'is' also runs the BMW performance exhaust mufflers which flow better, but are loud.

nah, the bmw performance exhaust has been proven to be different and have different baffeling/internals. 335is exhaust is louder than stock exhaust, but not as loud as the bmw performance exhaust. it still has a flapper on the left exhaust tip lol.

I've heard a few stock 'is' running around and they're loud....

Yup, louder than the stock 335i normal exhaust. the bmw pe is even louder than both though, since it basically has no guts in the mufflers lol.

Yeah I know someone with a bmw pe right now, but they actually took it off their car because when they got downpipes it became too raspy. I heard a friends 335is a couple of weeks ago with catless downpipes, and it sounded pretty good, not much rasp at all.

My is sounded horribly raspy right after my catless DP install. Then Terry came out with updated FW that addressed the way the WG's behave on decel and all is now well in my universe again
