New Member!

Hey everyone!

So after a long, exhaustive search I'm finally fully qualified as a member of this forum. Thanks to Jayely on here for selling his very well maintained 2007 335i e92!

It was a bit of a haul to fly out to IL to pick it up - had a fun 850+ mile drive to get home. It was a a good way to get to know the vehicle though and all I can say is "wow"! What a fun drive - an absolutely amazing machine! I've definitely made a hell of leap from a falling apart honda prelude!

Anyway, this is just to say hey to everyone - I'm looking forward to joining up with some of you all and meeting people who truly know what they're doing! I don't have too much of a car background (learned what little I know from trying to keep the prelude alive) - but I've decided to learn. This forum has been a great help in that too; a lot of good information, been reading pretty much non stop since I found it (my girlfriend things I'm a bit obsessive ) So yeah, I'll be checking in regularly, and I'm looking forward to whatever the next local meet&greet is. I'm located out in Columbia btw - will register with the sticky.

And now, some point and shoot pictures (getting some hi-res soon I hope) after getting a quick wash in to get all the bugs off of it (I was like the bug terminator after 800 miles):

Tiag, Black leather, Alum trim, CA, Nav, Cold Weather.

Mods so far:
M3 spoiler
Sport pedals

Next on the plate:
Reflector delete
Tint
CDV delete (if I can find some help with that hah!)
Possibly debadging as well.
Interior LEDs (Anyone want to recommend here - Sonic Tuner vs HPB?)
Eventaully I want to go OSS
Possibly drop it a bit and then new shoes (a ways down the road)

Welcome. Nice ride.

Enjoy it, mod it at your convenience, and don't let the ATM "addicted to modding" crowd wear you down into just doing things, because the ATM crowd eventually hits the ATM for all of their modding, and that would be a financial and emotional drain on your ATM needs! LOL

OBTW, I installed a Quaife diff as my first mod....

Thanks! It is definitely the exact color I was looking for!

Haha - I'm going to stay away from performance mods for the time being; It's taking a bit to get used to this much car as it is stock! A big jump from a tiny 4 banger. I think I'll need some adjustment time before I feel the need for any more power!

I will definitely be taking the modding slow - getting a few smaller things that I've been looking at done first, and then I'll definitely be taking my time (I expect to have this car for a long time, so I don't want to run out of things to do!). The Quaife differential does look interesting - can you talk to the feel of it?

Congrats on the car! I am surprised you had to search that far for an e92 in good shape! I did the same thing, though, for a car at one point. I flew to Chicago and drove it back. Definitely a fun experience!

OP stated he was from columbia.

We usually have weekly or biweekly hooters meets here in rockville with locals. Then every other friday night there is a large "all car types" meet in rockville as well. This past friday we had over 100+ cars of all types. Many N54 cars as well!

Hey, just take a look at the first thread under my signature. I wrote a review of it. I wanted a car for go, not just for show. Upshot is, I have the equivalent power transfer to the pavement of most cars with power boosts/mods but without the diff. When the e-diff on our cars kicks in and you see the flashing lights that indicate DTC is working, it is essentially applying the brakes to one wheel in order to stabilize the car, unlike a normal limited slip differential (LSD) that transfers power to the wheel with the most grip.

Read the threads below to understand the dynamics of a true diff, whether it be a plate or gear type torque biasing diff. First and best mod I have ever made.

Haha yeah - only one scare. Had a couple more close ones over the last week or so, considering getting some radar protection.

Awesome - I'll try to drop by the hooters soon enough. Probably won't be for a couple more weeks just cause things are busy as all get out right now.

So as an additional note - Don't have pictures yet, but I went ahead and did the reflector delete and debadged. Next up is the CDV - if anyone has advice on that one please let me know hah.
