Dinan Stage 2

I'm not seeing a lot of Dinan posts here. My issue is this... At wot I feel a flutter, a car trying to gasp for air maybe, but definitely not linear power. Without trying to diss the expense of Dinan, what is this?

as a previous Dinan customer, and VERY acquainted with the Dinan stage 2 tune what you are experiencing is 100% oscillation

There is countless of posts around here of those with or had the Dinan S2 that are experiencing this. Some are lucky not having the issue

No, Dinan will not FIX this as they are blaming it on new BMW software updates which is BOULDER DASH !

There are plenty of us running flash tunes like Dinan in which there is no oscillation.

It had nothing to do with the car's intake, plnty of people runing 17-18 PSI on stock air box with again no oscillation.

This.
I am 99% sure it is an issue with the PID tables.

So will other tunes oscillate? Renntech has a tune specific to 335is. And does oscillation mean that I'm missing valuable power or is just annoying? I played around yesterday and realized that in the rpm range where it occurs is where I spend most of my time around town. So if I've got the power I'm sorta cool with it.

Not good ones. If drivability is a top priority, the GIAC is the smoothest and most factory like in my experience.

The car should be smooth or something is wrong.

no issue here, my car (early '07) runs D2.

are these oscillating issues only with N55 engines?

I had oscillation issues with my stage 2 Dinan tune. After I stacked a JB4 G5 ISO on top, the issue went away. All the pluses of the Dinan tune(which isn't a whole bunch) and JB4 goodness.

Now before a flame war starts, I would imagine that stacking any of the other tunes/piggy backs on top would net the same results.

Happy hunting.

This Dinan oscillation thing is weirdly a hit or miss proposition, and in my case had stage 2 Dinan sw then went to s3(w/ Dinan OC, IC only) and still was fortunate enough not to experience any oscillation.

It's very strange to me that it's not 100% across the board though, (ie; all N54, N55, 'IS models, etc), it's all very convoluted and unfortunately Dinan tends to turn a blind eye, to which if I were experiencing this I would be livid, especially taking into account my cost basis.

Don't get me wrong, I really like what I have in Dinan mods but if they didn't work right - it would be a whole different story - I'd surely be looking elsewhere if they didn't correct them and demanding a refund.

If I had the oscillations, I'd be getting my cash back.
Go GIAC or Cobb.
I went Cobb so I could flash it myself. Love the Cobb no issues.

If you do a search here you will find Cobb has/had oscillation problems as well which makes me think it might be an inherent problem in BMW software somewhere down the line that is not really exposed till certain performance parameters are increased. But again, why it happens to some and not others is a great mystery.

I Love my GIAC but there is not resale value which sucks :/
anyway what you dscribe above also could be related to fuel injection.
Bad injector or HPFP, but it is like finding a needle in a hay stack, a lot of post about that too if you
