Isn't that setup sucking hotter air that the regular airbox ?
Would be interesting to have readings from the MAF and temp sensors before and after, to see if it does any good :} |

Here is my version and also if you search promo code for advanced auto parts you can get these cheap (got mine for $30). Spectre also makes a proven product, just because its not kandn or another well known brand doesnt mean anything. I've had these on my car since last year.

there in the home plumbing section, its black abs plastic, funny thing is I just changed my adapters to aluminum ones from advanced, I got the 2 1/4 to 2 1/2 exhaust adapter then to it to my local muffler shop so he could stretch the 2 1/2 side to 3". I did this because it gave me a half an inch more room on the intake side because the abs adapters are so thick. Good luck all in all everything cost me $38

I decided to make my own as well. I ordered the filters direct from S & B in blue with chrome. I bought the aluminum pipe from Home Depot and polished them with the bench grinder/wire wheel. All said and done it cost me $65.

My question is do these filters produce the same air flow results as the bms intakes. I know gains are minimal but do these filters allow the engine to keep the hot air out and produce that afflicting turbo spool sound everyone buys a dci for..

Great thread, I did mine last night using black filters and it looks great, and with only $60 spent!!!
I would add 2" PVC pipe has to be cut to 2 inches for the front intake tube, and 5 inches for the back pipe. I played around a bit with different lengths and these seem to have worked best. Clean those inside and out to ensure no shavings are left in. Will post pics later.

It does not keep the hot air out. But if the engine has a turbo .... The heat is there already unlike a NA engine .....

2-3 inches for front intake, 4-5 rear.. Anything longer than that does not fit. If you look at the pics, the front 2 to 3 inch adapter sits flush against the factory hose. So all you need is 1 inch of PVC inside the hose to clamp on..

Quick question for those that have done this mod. I bought the two black spectre filters now I just need the piping to make it fit, you think if I order just the couplers from bms and use the spectre cones it would fit?

If I had to guess I would say no.. Judging by the coupler pics spectre filters will be too big.. Get an adapter from either lowes or depot.. It works great!
