Staggered Wheel Size Question

I recently damaged my rims and need to get new ones. I have staggered sizes of my tires, but buy staggered rims again may cost a lot. I was told that if I used non staggered rims on my car I would mess up the drive train? Is this true or will I be ok with buying non staggered rims and replacing my back tires to fit the rims.

Bullocks.

You can't run the wide rear tire/wheel combo at the front (too wide), but you can certainly run a square setup based upon the front tire/wheel size. Often, the front tire will be too narrow to fit on a rear rim; don't do that.

It is no problem to move to a non-staggered setup on this car. Very common to do, and it certainly will not damage your car.

Yeah my front tires are 225/40/18 so I was thinking of moving to a setup where all my tires are 225/40/18 (on the correct rim size), even though my car came stock with 255/35/18 tire size in the back.

if you do a square setup with 255 tires you want 255/35/18 all around, not 255/40/18. I run 255/35/18 on 18x8.5 all around on my 335xi

Yes, 225/40R18 will fit on the front 18X8 wheels and the rear 18X8.5" wheels with no problem. You can even use 235/40R18 all around if you want something a bit wider/taller.

So 255/35 18 will fit up front? What about 245/40?
And would it be possible to run 275/35 r18 on the rear? With 8" wode rims up front and 9" in the back
