Looking good manny_335is

I'm still scared to buy that lip, I'm afraid I'm going to rip it off or crack it in half the first day driving with it. lol

Lowering perches?

What is this community's thoughts on lowering perches? I don't want to do coilovers nor do I want new springs. I like the ride quality of the 335is suspension as it is a good compromise. But, I would like to lower the nose just a tad.

Anyone have any experience with them? <flame suit on>

Thanks,
Greg

After a lot of research, that was my original plan, perches and alignment.

But .... I ended up getting full m3 suspension and Ohlins coilovers (because no self control).

I had lowering perches on a previous 335i with the sports package. it lowered the front end a decent amount (couldn't tell you how much) and it looked decent. didn't really add to any handling feel though, car felt about the same

Hey Greg, I did the BMW performance springs and shocks along with full M3 upgrades. The drop is only 10-15 mm but the handling improvement was excellent without really compromising ride quality. I did do Powerflex black subframe bushings which does affect ride quality but the rear end is so tight and controlled that it's worth it to me.

To be honest with you the h&r springs don't ride that much stiffer than the stock springs

I did perches and 12mm spacers all around. No alignment needed. Check my posts for before and after pics.

Here's 2 recent ones.

Air Intakes?

I am considering air intake options to go with my downpipes. I have read a few of the pros/cons of the different options, dual cone, cold air, Dinan, etc.. I was wandering what the consensus is on the best options for our cars. I won't be tracking my car, just looking for a little better response. Keeping it stock is always an option. Dinan is out because I think it requires removing our cars secondary oil cooler ...and that doesn't seem to make sense. I appreciate your experienced advice.

But best bet is 15mm front and 12mm rear with beefier tires!
I have some nasty rubbing on bumps with this setup on stock tires, stock suspension and stock 19" 313's. When the rear suspension is compressed...

Thats weird? I ran 15mm front/ 12mm rear with PSS in 235 /275, lowered, stock alignment and I rubbed a tiny bit on full rear compression but it was practically nothing/never.

anybody use the MHD tuning app yet? Im currently on using JB4 piggyback but thinking about using this to flash a map into my IS. I've heard good things about the BMS backend flash but I also see Wedge has maps as well for the IS/1M. My car is completely stock except for JB4 G5.

I have a Wedge tune through my Cobb V3, but will be switching to MHD as soon as my KDCAN cable arrives tomorrow.

Can you tell me what KDCAN cable you have purchased and verify that it works? I hear complications with some cables and OTG cables as well. Sounds like a hit or miss...

I am trying to understand if backend flash is any beneficial to our cars using pump gas. I have downpipes, DCI and G5 ISO. Does anyone know?

I know Terry releases IS specific maps, but I believe that is for race fuel.

I haven't received mine yet, but I should know today.

There is a thread in the engine/tuning forum dedicated to "what cable works"
