Question 19" Wheels and Problems w/Bending Wheels

How many of you running 19" wheels have routine experiences with wheel vibration due to front wheels being bent?

To clarify, I am not necessarily talking about bending them severly after hitting a real deep pot-hole, but I am speaknig of wheel run-out caused by hitting minor pot-holes, road bumps etc. This results in high speed vibration which can be felt in the steering wheel and cannot be balanced out because the wheel is outside of tolerance.

The problem is less about the size of the wheel and more about the strength. An 18" cast rim will bend easier than a 19" forged one.

While I concede my question is rather general, I understand the strength equation, the question is more related to the size and narrower sidewall when running 19"s, which tends to make a wheel more suseptable to being bent.

So I am curious to know if others running 19's (cast or forged) experience vibration problems due to wheel run-out.

PS: a forged wheel is not necessarily stronger than a cast wheel. There are cast wheels that are as strong or stronger than forged. The big benefit to a forged wheel is weight reduction combined with strength.

I have the same problem with my Miro 111 (235/35/19 fronts and 265/30/19 rears), except both rears are bent not the fronts. This causes the steering wheel to have a vibration at high speeds. Not sure how they got bent. One wheel is in perfect condition and the other has a small curb rash.

Yea, all my wheels look perfect, but one or two wheels are warped beyond the point where they can be balanced. I am just wandering if this is prevelant or if it has more to do with the stregnth or lack thereof my low pressure cast wheels.

can you give us examples of cast wheels that are stronger than forged?

Not all cast wheels are manufactured equally, same can be said about forged wheels. (variations in manufactured techniques, and alloys).

BUT it's a fair generalization that the best forged wheels in same sizes and spoke designs would be just as strong and maybe a bit more strong at less weight than its cast counter part, but the price would also reflect this.

Top quality cast wheels: 19" 1000-2000
Top quality forged wheels: 19" $4,000 +

With that said, I have seen plenty of forged expensive wheels crack, and even more cast wheels bend/crack. I think this perception has been created because there are just a lot more low end/quality cast wheels on the road, so you will hear about it more.
