I was a fan of Japanese engineering and used to race motorcycles with the factory teams in Japan at Motegi (avatar). I believed that the German cars were finicky and hard to maintain. That is until my daughter turned 16 and fell in love with the Z3. Working on that with her, I realized the German engineering was actually better. Add to that the enthusiasts that are always on tap with experience, advice and help, its just not a level playing field.
I have been very fortunate with the BMW's, they really don't require a lot of work, just regular maintenance. Driving... well, I will just say I am very happy to be out of the Japanese penalty box. FE1 |

The opening scene of the movie The Transporter. Saw it when I was 14. After that day I knew when I was old enough I was getting a BMW.

Looking back I would have rather gotten a manual, it seems like a lot of fun. |

I wanted a hard-top convertible.
Only BMW made one that didn't look terrible! All the other options had ridiculous huge rear ends to hold the mechanism and top. The E93 looks great with the top up or down. So I bought one. |

Found a good deal back in 2011 on red e46 323i with really low kms (103000kms) and never looked back.
Until then I had only owned civics ie. 94 si, 97 dx, 99 ex, 02 lx The civic was great car , amazing on gas, reliable and really easy to fix when something broke. But I was ready for a change and the e46 was a whole different type of drive. I was hooked. Since then I have had 2006 e90 325i (current), a 2002 e46 330ci mtech ( sold last year), 2011 e92 335i Msport (current). Not sure if and when I'll try something else |

A good friend of my fathers always had a BMW. Grew up around them and was very familiar with them even as a wee lad. Every 3 years she would get a new one, so I watched the progression of the styles and features as technology advanced. I was always told that I couldn't afford one nor could I afford the service/repairs. I've owned Lexus, Infiniti and of course BMW in the past. Each has their pros and cons but I love my 10 year old E93 more than my 3 year old Lexis IS 350. Just a completely different driving experience.
The only complaint I have about my E93 would be the continual scratches and body damage that I get from the females rubbing their genitalia all over my car. |

My dad had a 2006 E60 530i and I always thought I would eventually get it like I got his 97 Corolla. Unfortunately he hasn't given up on that car yet.
I always wanted a RWD manual car ever since I drive on a twisty mountain road when I was 18. I told myself that I would drive down that same road in the future in a RWD manual car. I was driving my family's truck and I was getting tired of the size. I was bored one day and looked on Autotrader to see if there was a 6MT BMW in my area and lo and behold there was one, a 2011 328i sedan with 39k miles on it. That was almost 3 years ago and I had it ever since. |

My first BMW was a 2005 118d. It was a low spec, slow car. But on my test run, I went through a few tight corners and I was instantly sold. I had only driven older Citroën, Saab and Volkswagen/Audi before so when I met my first corner in that BMW I literally shouted "HOLY SHIT IT ACTUALLY TURNS". It was an eye opener of how a car can handle. I got tired of that low spec though and after one year, I got rid of it and now I have my 325i E91 with sport chassis. It has all the luxuries and visuals that I could wish for (except M-sport) and the same great handling from the 1-series but with better steering feel and more stable on long runs.
It has everything that I want in a car as of now and the only reason to sell it in the future would be the slightly terrible fuel economy. Fuel taxes is killing all the fun over here in Sweden. |

I only bought the E90 335i because I wanted a small, rwd, with performance.
Was close to getting the little lexus with 3 litre V6, but all the hype in online media about the N54 engine sold me! Previously owned VW GTI and Audi Quattro, so was keen to steer away from German 'engineering'...

i always thought the older bmws were nice and handled well, but were underpowered for the money you paid.
i liked mercedes more with their large displacement v8s or supercharged v6 and indestructible 5 speed tranny. then the 335i came out and it was the first time bmw combined the power and tq of a turbo 6 cylinder with their legendary handling. i thought it was the right balance of power and handling. maintence is expensive but the buy in cost of these cars are so cheap now, it offsets the high initial maintenance costs

I'm very particular in what I look for in a car which would be the least a car having AWD and a manual transmission, I've owned a few different types of brands such as Dodge, Volkswagen, Acura/Honda, GM, Subaru and Audi. I've never bought the same brand of car as I previously owned since I like to explore options. When my Audi died I looked into BMW since they seemed to have much more of a variety of options and are still using Manual transmissions. There's what... 5 different options in the 3 series? if not more? Which is what drove me to look into purchasing the bimmer.
