Just back from 2 weeks away and if these cameras have indeed gone live then I couldn't have timed my break any better. I drive through jn 26 to Jn 28 section 3 times a week in both directions! Since they were installed ( must be 3 years ago) I sail through at the usual 90 ish when the matrix signs are off without ever seeing a flash or getting a ticket. When they are 'on' I try my best to slow down but have never seen them flash anyone.

I'll be on my best behaviour over the next two weeks and see what flashing and when!

cheers for the heads up guys

I hope its ok, because i 100% got flashed! Will keep this updated!

I'm hoping they turned the cameras on for a test or something. Or to gradually ease us motorists into the fact they are working now. But i doubt they'd be so kind.

Nack all today. Even when matrix speed restrictions on - no sign of flashing, maybe everyone not speeding

Not sure why I quoted you there pjs, sorry.
Seeing as there's a few of us posting on here all quite local should we have a pub meet one evening before the nights draw right in?

Just got flashed again at the same gantry as 2 weeks ago (just before junction 11 m1 northbound). However this time there were no speed limit illuminated. Was doing 90 ish.

I havent got anything in the post for the last time. I'm hoping i wont get anything this time either. No limit showing so should be ok?

I got flashed on the M25 on Wednesday in similar circumstances..

I thought gantry cameras were not allowed to operate whilst no speed limit was displayed.

Don't these things flash periodically anyway? I've seen them flash without cars under them before.

I think they do, I heard before (this may be a myth) that the flashes do need to discharge periodically so speed cameras have been known to flash for no apparent reason.

And they probably have to test that the units are functioning correctly periodically, which will likely include checking the flash is still working.
