Golf gti

Hi.
Picked up a GTI 3dr in tornado red with leather and 18" yesterday.I was out the door at 4am and straight up to Gatwick for the first flight to Manchester .Collected by the dealer and taken to the showroom where it was sitting awaiting a good drive home 260 miles .

First impressions is the build quality is very good at least on par with my BMW e90 and better than my previous mercedes and mini ,The Gti feels heavy and will take some getting used to but i think it represents better value for money than buying another mini ,I found the mini just to small imho the back seats are of no use and the boot tiny,That said it was ok for the drive to work and dropping my boy at the bus stop in the morning .

I will post some pics later i think i now should have bought a GTI edition 30 with dsg but as this is for my wife and her dog it will be fine .

Out of curiosity did ANT397 ever return from his holiday ? .

yikes

I thought the dealer told me the tyres were michelins ,just noticed they are continental sport contact2 are these any good ?? they arent rft i just found a space saver in the boot and a jack.

I still like the e9x better its proberbly the best car i have owned except the rusty hub issue that bmw stealer wasnt interested in ,but im still having the last laugh as my neighbour works in there sales and so so wanted me to buy a 1 series but i stood my ground and explained that if they had sorted my hubs they would have got my order but as you pissed me off twice im now going to spend my hard earned money with somebody else

Weird after 15 years as a loyal customer how little you are worth im cool with that and very pleased with the GTI its a completly different animal to the mini much heavier but i like it a lot .

Spoke to a guy at Goodwood this morning with his £120,000 Aston Martin DB9. It had rusty hubs that I wanted to picture to post on here but Ian (Hotcoupe) would not let me with the owner standing next to us.

I had conti sport contact 2's for a while on my Leon Cupra R - liked them, the sidewalls were a bit softer than other tyres I'd had. Plus side was a slightly better ride, downside was they were a bit less precise in the bends, a bit more drifty.

I hope your neighbours son is not a closet Beemer fan, and that he is not a lurker on this forum!

The E90 would look great with a set of CSL's on it

+1 with the csl rims .what a saga they turned out to be ,If a fabulous set at the right price come along i would have them in a instant .

Done a few quid on the golf and a new rolex last month need to sell that mini cooper then think about csl rims with michelin pilot 2 .

someone was sorting me out but i have given up at present i wont beg them to supply me ,Yes they would look fabulous on my e90 (wifes) .I am confused at present as to whos car is whos .

I have just returned from a drive in the golf at night the lights seam very good ,

Finally i think i have just sourced a OEM VW nav unit for the golf its plug and play 30 min job a big thanks to GiZZe for stearing me down the retro fit nav route ,It is £1875 option or buy one from ebay about £400 and sell your radio on at £175 total cost less that £250 money well spent imho fully intergrated oem nav all for £250 plays dvds as well but only when parked or stationary .its my job t fix it in this week just waiting payment instructions and it will be on its way pictures to follow .

Golf looks ace Scooba - I love them with those alloys on! They look massive!

Just keep away from the kerbs - with such a flat face they would look shocking with any marks on and would be damn expensive to refurb
Let us know how the nav install goes - just dont try and update it like your iphone!

Good looking ride. With a little after market love GTI's can look really good. I drove one with the DSG and really liked it. Do you know if the interiors are any different in UK spec from US?

You may already know, but if you have any issues with the Navi install you should be able to find the answers (or someone who knows) on here:

http://vwnavi.com/forums/

I cheated and having sourced a unit and tablet aerial I got my local VW techy to fit it (FOC!) in our Treg......has worked perfectly ever since.

Great car Scooba, I had a steel grey one a couple of years ago, best allround car I've owned, better than the R32 that I replaced it with, glad to see you went for the Monza 2 wheels. Edition 30's are a good choice as they have a bit extra BHP and the bumpers are colour coded.

I still miss my GTi,build quality is good , just look out for flakey alloys and rusty hubs.
