Previous: 13537585261 Original: 13537565138 Can anyone elaborate on the latest injector and what has been updated about it? It's also $100 more than the previous old part... 13537585261. |

Hmm my shop just ordered a new injector for my car on Friday. I hope it's this new revision!

On another forum it's stated that this new version has enhanced internal filtering and special thermo compensating oil. Definitely an upgrade then! Too bad the price has also been revised!

If they are installing only 1 injector it will be the older style 261 not the 079 part #. The 079 is not compatible with the 261 per a recent DCS message. Also the 261s are being phased out so the only thing that will be availble soon are the 079s. That being said, if you need 1 079 you need to replace all 6 injectors since you cannot mix them. Another note to mention. When you do get a new 079 injector and you check the injector itself it will say 261-11 it will not have the 079 part # on it FYI. Like mentioned they "claim" its a better internal fitering and the thermo compenstating oil |

I'll ask the shop tomorrow. But the price is around 200 Eur whereas the old one was only 100.
How are they not compatible? Wouldn't they require a software update then? I'm not really keen to shell out around over 1200 EUR just because BMW can't get stuff done right the first time. Quote:

This is going by the DCS that announced the new injectors. It clearly states that you cannot mix and match the 2 different injectors. I have no answer to why though. No software update is needed. You calibrate them as normal. |

I've installed a few sets of these new injectors. They are easily identified by their index number of "11". They are improved injectors that were mainly designed due to the problems BMW has been having with the N63 engines -- which seem to be more sensitive to injector tolerances. According to BMW, you can run either the new or old style in the N54, but you can't mix/match them on the same engine.
Maybe my source was incorrect, but I was told the old part number was currently on back-order and that the new number was the same price. I'm assuming the new, improved parts are going to be the only option as soon as everyone runs out of the older "261" part number.

Your source is correct. Same applied to my place. You cannot order the 261s. Basically if you have 261s in stock, they want the dealer to use those first. However they cannot be ordered. If you order a 261 the order gets cancelled and you get 079s. If its an N63 it MUST get 079s. If you are trying to install less then 6 injectors, it MUST get 6 new 079s, unless there are 261s available. We have had many N54s in the shop in the past few weeks that needed 1 to 3 injectors. All of them had to get 6 079s because of zero availability on the 261s |

Oh boy. My shop had to order the injector in Germany as they were out of stock at the local dealership. I've got a bad feeling about this...
And somehow my car does not qualify for the injector recall. FML

Just replaced an injector on Thursday - but it looks like Tischer sent me the "previous" version. I was worried that I had put a new one in and it may be incompatible - but the car feels fantastic.

If you need one or more injectors replaced, you can try to buy 13 53 7 585 261. Problem is, you probably won't find these at a BMW dealership as they are being phased out. Through BMW, the only real option right now is getting a set of 6 "improved" injectors, part # 13 53 8 616 079. You are not supposed to mix the new "079" injectors with the older style on the same engine. Hope that helps.

So with these updates does this mean that they are better equipped to run E85 through without failing?
