Fill your boots guys.

If this is the 'best rate' they can do and it's actually, erm, not... Then balls to them!

Ack.

Matt can you prod me in a few days if I don't post here to say booked via PM?

It's not that I'm asking you to be my secretary. It's just. I've just worked a 16 hour day in the office at a machine where I can't do any personal browsing so won't do it tonight and expect more of the same tomorrow.

That said I'll book as soon as I get the opportunity/remember to do so

Erm, whilst I've not checked my CC statement, it certainly looked like payment was collected upfront.

just checked hotels.com and they've changed the room options to have a higher price with breakfast included. So I spend my time telling them the price is not 'the best' on their website and they tell me to piss off and then to rub a touch of salt in the wound they change the hotels.com price

Thanks to Matt for sorting this, but I was prompted to shop around so I have booked through Top Cashback to get 7% back. Linked to Holiday Inn site and room reserved by credit card for £59 per night. Credit card is only charged if cancellation is late or there is a no show as far as I can tell.

I've checked hotels.com now, more closely, it's £59 for a Standard Double or £74 for a Standard Double WITH full breakfast. £15 for breakfast seems excessive to me.

Bummer, sorry this hasn't turned out to be as useful as planned. One of the things which makes organising meets is easier is when there is a clear and universally agreeable way forwards.

On this occasion there clearly isn't, but thanks to everyone for going ahead and booking themselves into THIS hotel at least, one way or another.

One of the key benefits that this hotel offers is a large car park, so its ideal for meeting up in. IF noone has already booked a room with breakfast, I COULD TRY and arrange us some sort of local sarnie run or something?

I'm also happy to ring them again and kick up a fuss about the price of breakfast if anyone wants me to?

Regards
Matt

I thought that initially, but when you click on the two available price-links (£59 & £74) the latter certainly lists breakfast whereas the former doesn't. It's certainly not clear though. My confirmation does not state breakfast.

Matt, if you're able to wangle breakfast at the hotel then feel free to have a rant (I know you like a challenge ), but I'm personally not all that bothered. Might even just pay on the day if that option is available.

As comparion, I've just had a massive full breakfast at our local Premier Inn (breakfast meeting ) and it cost £8.99 all in (£8.25 for residents), I literally won't eat again today, so £15 seems very expensive. £8.99 included tea/coffee/fresh orange/toast/massive breakfast.

For those that have booked via Hotels.com - their website was/is wrong. They (Hotels.com) called the Hotel who said the booking did not include breakfast. They (Holiday Inn) have now charged Expedia (Hotels.com) for my breakfast. Maybe worth a call to them to sort yours.

I've spoken to Hotels.com (I wouldn't recommend it if you like your blood pressure low ) and apparently breakfast is complimentary with all rooms anyway so don't be duped by the higher priced one. Panic over.

This I'll being along this printed out just to be safe though
