And if fitted with EDC, a waste of money, resulting in zero demand

I have a friend in blue who managed to stop a stolen BMW last year, they tried to pull the key out but they hadn't pressed the stop button thus left most of it in, the key had been programmed for that car and the only link with the recent thefts in Nottingham was the fact they had all been to a local dealer for servicing/repair. He wouldn't say much more than that but I'll be going elsewhere from now in for sure!

thats possibly why BMW aren't bothered so much, if we're not paying them to service our cars, we're technically asking for our cars to be stolen.

Hi,

I too have recently had the cooks ferry mod completed on my 2011 330d,

however i didnt get pat @ cooks ferry to check their mod had worked as such, just took his word for it.

now im a little nervous incase something isnt right and the dealer voids my warranty.

from your experience did you just come clean, tell them about the mod, and keep your fingers crossed? notice yours is a 2010 so still in warranty.

cheers

Garry

Just to keep this confidential, can somebody PM me what is cooks ferry mod? I may be able to tell you how to check it whether with coding or without.

I tested my car the other day after locking and giving it two minutes to sleep. I tried to gain access to brain of my car and to my surprise, I could read it when car was locked. Scary!!!

Hi All,
My first and possibly last post on this forum....
They are not just targetting high end Beemers now. My 2006 320D was stolen last night - no leather, no satnav just a bog standard model.
I had no idea about this security flaw. BMW have my details on record and routinely email me servicing and sales offers - but no mention of this security fix they are now apparently offering ; according to the BBC Watchdog page:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b006...eft-technology

It had been off the road for the past week waiting for a fuel pump repair....Cost me £400 . Only got the car back yesterday - wish they had nicked it before the repair!!
I dont suspect the repair place -been using them for years - for my E46 too...

I don't think the security flaw affected 2006 model year cars & before

does anyone know where the wires from the obd2 port goto the ecu? I am having trouble hooking up any scan tools to my vehicle. Ground and +12v are good per multi-meter. Fuses are good as well.

I've complained to BMW UK and sent over every case I have found on this forum of a pre 2007 model being stolen. Yesterday I had a phone call to get my car booked in and the 'fix' applied. Funny how when I first called mine was not affected but with enough complaining I'm booked in.

Would be good to apply some pressure though.
