Driving on highway and passanger door opens!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yes...opens!!!!!!!!

So last night...my wife and I are driving home from dinner and she's in the passanger seat...when about 12-13 minutes into our drive...her door opens up and the lights inside the car go on...along with speedo beeping and showing me a door is open.

We both had on seatbelts so she didn't fly out of the car.

The door didn't swing open as the wind kept it pretty shut...but it was obviously open.

I slowed down and she opened the door and shut it hard. We both looked at one another and said, "What the fuck????".

So yea...has anyone had anything like this happen?

I'm probably going to take my car in and get the door lock replaced as this honestly scared the shit outta me... I know the dealership won't be able to "replicate" this issue...but I want this shit fixed asap!

That is scary thank god that our cars won't shut up until we put on our seat belts. It basically forces us to wear our seatbelts.

Um...okay granted this isn't an action movie...but worst shit has happened.

Either way...the door opened...and it wasn't supposed to.

Any insight as to what happened or what was fixed???

Any help would be great so I can atleast narrow the problem down and have them replace the correct part.

I think your car is trying to tell you something, time to find a new wife lol j/k no that is messed up because if the door was open from the start then the chime would come on... Imagine if she wasnt wearing her seat belt and you were driving around corners pretty hard and the door opens up and .... ok well you get the picture. Come explain that to the cops... :-)

Lets see, it's a 2007 750i ,was driving out of my garage, door pops open. I thought maybe I hadnt closed it right so went around to shut it, and it just wouldnt close. Ended up using a tow strap from the driver door to the passenger door to hold it shut drove to the dealer and they replaced the locking hinge. (I believe it a was a failure of the comfort access system)

The car is unable to open the doors on its own no matter how hard it tries. It can unlock but not open.

Could be door latch problem, check it out.

Wait until it is replicated? I don't see the problem considering you and your passengers are wearing seatbelts, and the door does not physically swing open (where it might hit something).
It is more likely that you're going to waste money on new parts than you're going to have the door open and your wife potentially fly out again.

She's 100% positive it was shut. We drove around for close to 15 minutes without a problem...then BOOM - the doors opens.

+1

an issue I could see is lower speeds, braking and hitting something but.. just remember these things since you always wear your seatbelt..

Unless you purposely code them out and dont need an annoying reminder to put on your seatbelt.
