To add to the list:

- Mirrors can fold in on lock
- Windows can be set to close with fob/CA instead of open
- There is a UK English iDrive voice
- NOAA Weather band radio is an accessible option
- The OBC has a velocity display
- Some later 3-series can have HP & torque graphs in iDrive
- The doors can be set to automatically unlock after the engine is shut off
- The key fob can be set to automatically eject after the engine is shut off
- The OBC has 3 levels of headlight sensitivity that you can adjust
- There is a 2nd threshold of adaptive brake force display that flashes the brake lights when ABS is activated
- The car can be classified as a police vehicle. I don't know what this does, but it may allow you to strobe lights?
- Oil change intervals can be automatically set to 7,500 & 10,000 miles instead of 15,000
- The wipers can be set to fully complete their wipe and return to the park position if you lock the car and they're mid-wipe
- N55 vehicles can get the Performance Power Kit flash for free
Anybody want to reference the pages each feature is talked about?

I believe he was referring to coding possibilities, not options found in the manual.

That there was a flashlight in the glove compartment! I think I've only opened that thing a handful of times. LOL

(Have a pet peeve on having anything stored or left in the car including the trunk. It's a car, not a locker!)

Someone else with my mindset! Only things I leave in the car are necessities and they need to be put away and out of sight

Not true. I have HIDs and they automatically switch off when the highbeams are activated.

Depends on how your FRM is programmed. It controls the lighting. You can set it either way. It's not common knowledge. Only those who have dabbled in programming these cars, or using things like Carly (formerly BMWhat App).

Just for info, the fog lights are set depending on country, in the UK generally they stay on when main beams are used but there are apparently some variations depending on type of headlight fitted, whether this is used I don't know but when coding you can see the options are there to set.
For example Spain has some strange laws regarding lights.... however if you code then you can have whatever you want.
Or you scrap the fog lights as they are pretty useless and do what I've done, fit high power LED's instead, code them to come on as DRL's with the Angel lights, then you cant be missed and they are more effective in fog anyway, but that's in the UK where you get fog, well sometimes.

Cheers

How can you set the oil change interval?

On my car they stay on, so it is true. I'm the original owner and I've not programmed the headlights. In the US the DOT laws say a car can only have two lit elements on at one time per side of the car. The HID highbeam is not a second element lit but just a shutter of the HID bulb, so that allows the use of fogs and HID highbeams at the same time.

If you use the actual key to lock the front driver door, hold the key rotated to right for a few seconds and all 4 windows (if open) will close. This might be handy if you had a bunch of passenger exit your car and forget to close the windows.
If you keep holding it the mirrors will also fold in if you have that option.

I wish my E92 had this feature, that would be a convenient place for an outlet!

I didn't know that parts break off all by themselves, when it's at the dealership being worked on.

What he said how? I didn't see that option in Carly.

Still learning new tricks for this great car!

RE: Key Fob (non Comfort Assist) - The batteries are REALLY GOOD!

I'm the only user of a 335i and have used the same fob for 8 years, 60k+ miles. Then the other day I came across the spare fob I got with the car.

It occurred to me that should I loose my primary fob, the second might not work right off, as I'm pretty sure that they are powered by internal, non-replaceable batteries that automatically recharge whenever you put them in the starting socket. And it's been 8 years and I just don't remember EVER using this fob. So I thought maybe I'd better give it a try to see if it needs recharging, or if it even the car recognizes it at all.

Surprise! Walking up to my car, it easily turned off the alarm, and placed in the socket, the car started up without any indication of a problem.

That's a very impressive 'shelf life' for what has to be a tiny battery.

I think it's a US-only thing because there's no such button in my E91.

Don't try backing up with the door open if you have DCT. It'll jerk and slap the car into Park.

Pet peeve:
On E93 with CA if you hold the unlock button on the fob the windows will drop and the roof will open IF the trunk partition is down. However, if the partition is up nothing will happen
It would be nice if holding the unlock button with the partition up at least opened the windows (without opening the roof).

Installing the Smartop module will allow that. I just tested mine, partition up and from range I can operate my windows with a 2-second press, up or down.

With the partition down holding for 5-seconds drops the top and opens the windows or, closes the top and closes the windows. You can also do the opposite if you wish - drop the top then raise the windows, or close the top and open the windows.

Smartop also increases the range for window and top operation to the full range of the remote - no more standing right next to the car operate the roof.

Some of the many features of the Smartop - you really should get one - adds functions to the E93 that should have come from the factory.

There's gotta be a way to code this so that doesn't happen.

So again after 4 years and reading most of these posts I think I've found something not mentioned anywhere...
The light control switch on my E90, several times I have knocked it to the on position when getting out of the car.
By accident I did knock it this time and the switch disappeared almost into the housing, but its supposed to!
You can push the switch in, bit of firm pressure to stop you accidently knocking it, you can still access it and just pull it out if you want for normal use...
Well I never... this is a proper function and confirmed, and of course it still works normally in the safety position.

Cheers
