This is why I left work early, parked my beauty safely in my warm garage and worked from home. My roommate, not as smart. he had to abandon his car about 2 miles away. Yesterday, when I went to get it out for him, I saw a poor defenseless e46 fall victim to what I think was a snow plow or another silly driver.

I tried to tell him summers aren't good in the winter, but he didn't listen to me.

I lived in MD for two years; initially I lived in Laurel, then moved to Waldorf which was a lot closer to my office in La Plata.

I can tell you.... from my experience, your thread has much relevance!

I can not tell you how many times I got frustrated trying to get around in MD due to snow when I lived there.

Coming from Pittsburgh, where driving in snow comes to be 2nd nature, it really tugs on your patience sometimes.

Having said that, I loved living there! Waldorf is a nice place, just too DAMN! expensive to own a home there.

Yes, that's my 21' Ranger bass boat that is wintering outside under cover. I know, I know, it should be inside but it takes up almost a 1/4 of the garage.

Seriously? You should check out house prices in NoVa compared to Waldorf lol. I'm from Port Tobacco and work in Indian Head, so I've been looking at houses in the area. You must think waldorf is a nice place because you aren't from there haha.

And I try not to hang out at Casey Jones because its like a damn high school reunion whenever I go there lol.

Where did you work in LaPlata?

335xi.

No issues with snow anymore. My previous 335i was a nightmare. This one has no issues. It goes faster than the previous one in the snow... Now If I could only get it to go faster than the previous one in the dry, I'll be happy. Wish that AP wasn't so damn expensive.

I just wanted to add my girl left White Flint Mall at 430pm and got home in Kingstowne Alexandria at 11:30pm. My co-wroker left Falls Church at 5 pm and got home a 3am to centreville!

This. It was quite terrifying driving home on Wednesday... PS2s are horrible. First mod is going to be a FWD beater.

This. Out of all the facts posted in this thread and the many others like it, these few things that are really all of the problem. Its even worse here in Utah, people with giant lifted trucks think they are invincible until they cant stop and then cause a massive pile up as they crash into everybody! Sooooo many people dont believe in snow tires and think that "all seasons" will be good enough.

Makes you think what would happen if they evacuated the entire DMV area for some reason.

Yes but the cars won't be stuck in snow unable to move. It would be because of stupid drivers blocking the left lane.

man when i left the glenmont metro (1.5 miles from my house) i was perfectly fine on the hill until the idiots in front came to a dead stop, there was a car blocking the road on the right and there was oncoming traffic on the left....i ended up getting stuck going up hill. Luckily these kids helped me push my car up...gave them 10 bucks.. to make it worse, when i was on Layhill road, a power transformer exploded next to my car as i passed it....i thought i got hit by an IED, i was blinded, deafened and sparks flew across my car...i almost hit a curb cuz i couldn't see from it..

but now i am a master at counter-steering. goin up the hills at a 45* angle counter-steering was awesome!

took me an hour to go 1.5 miles to get home.... but my Cyba intake scoops helped dig me out of my parking spot that got plowed in at the metro while was at work

People don't practice good driving techniques in the snow. They just drive as normal.

Chesapeake Street (Ben Dyer Associates). Was right across from a strip mall with a grocery store in it and a gas station.

I miss WaWa I think it was called. Made to order food was so good!

Casey Jones was pretty cool, from what I can remember it was older people when I was there. I lived in Waldorf from 04-05.

I will never forget, one time it was snowing and I was on my way home (at that time) to Laurel from La Plata on 95 and was stand still traffic for over 3 hours!
That is when I decided to move closer to work!

Isn't it just easier just to buy an AWD and keep the same crappy tires? Hell, the tires are only connecting you to the road so they can't be that important.

It is very hard to judge sarcasm through the keyboard. Yes, snow tires are very important.

I did the same thing, except that I escaped from the lower Prince George's County Province of the People's Socialist Republic of Maryland. If you like your taxes, stay in MD. If you want to keep more money and some reasonably priced housing, buy in NoVa, outside Leesburg and Winchester. Sure you'll be in the sticks and far from work...

I had a blast driving my wife's M-B E350 4Matic sedan in the slush and snow-packed ice. I think I will buy some real snows someday...but the Conti DWS were sufficient for the conditions, blasting by lots of AWD car and 4WD truck drivers who thought they were behind some lame stereotypically pokey mercedes driver. Never mind that the vehicle had the sport package...ROFL...my wife likes to drive fast...comfortably....she's from Maine...that girl can DRIVE in the snow....

I think if there was a sarcasm indicator...like a smiley face....hahaha....people would have realized the subtlety of the humor...and the irony of it all.

I know one of our forum drives a FWD Honda Accord whenever it gets bad and leaves his pristine e90 at home.
