PIlot Super Sports in OEM 18" & 19" sizes in the UK/Europe.
Folks,
There's another thread on here called "hard wearing rubber" which got me thinking. In this thread, there's a comment about Michelin tyres being long lasting but costly. I agree 100%. On my e46 previously, which I ran for ~ 9 years with PS2's and on my current e91, I switched to non RFT's ages ago [Mich PS3's]. Tyres, like most consumer goods, you pay your money and you make your choice. I'm happy with Michelin products [I have them on my Triumph speed triple too!] Having driven an E92 in the US and M135i over here, I'm v impressed by Pilot Super Sports. Trouble is in the UK at least, Michelin choose not to make Pilot Super Sports in OEM staggered 18" & 19" sizes for the 3 series. I have asked the question to Michelin UK customers services and they implied there's no plan to market PSS other than M135i and M3 OEM sizes and load indices !! Frustrating. Would there be much interest to make a business case for Michelin to over more sizes in the UK, as they do in other markets ? Thoughts/comments/support welcome.... Dave |

Sorry I assumed folks on here knew correct oem sizes and if going for non rft, the right load rating.
225 40 18 92y front and 255 35 18 94y Camskill link may be the right size but only an 88 load rating. Still elusive I'm afraid unless some (hopefully) proves me wrong........ |

I will be buying Pilot Super Sports 265/35/19 (rear) and 245/35/19 (fronts) (both 98 load and Y speed rating) these sizes are OEM (recommended by Alpina) for the B3 Bi Turbo as the Pilot Sport 2's are being discontinued.

I want 18's as the 1st choice as that's what I have on my car just now. The car I drove in the states was running 18" and it was sublime. Likewise, a long afternoon test drive of an M135i with PSS's was a hoot.
Swapping to 19's is a last resort. |

PSS's are available in UK for 19" OEM [225/255] and OEM up 1 size [235/265]. You would need to check to ensure correct load rating if moving from RFT to non-RFT. Not sure but I think non RFT need to "XL" with a higher load index # than RFT equivalent. Other forum members please please chime in on whats available / recommended for e9x wrt 19" non RFT load index. Just a shame Mich PS3 is the only option for non-M e9x 18" oem sizing. Bah humbug !
