E90 Gear selection issues. Has anyone else had this? warranty runs out in 90miles!
Hi,
I have an E90 318 M-sport. I have only owned it for 10 days now and after doing around 800 miles in this time i have noticed that the selection for 1st is becoming increasingly hard. It also jumped out of 1st today when taking up power at traffic lights, this was because 1st gear was not fully engaged. This problem seems intermitent as i went for a cruise tonight and it was fine. Does this sound like it is the synchromesh hub or the clutch including its ancilliaries (slave, master or clutch piping) It is still in warranty but this only has 90 miles left until it runs out! any help would be appreciated as i have to take it back to Leicester tomorrow night to have it inspected. I live around 120 miles away from there so it is a fair old trek - i have been quoted £850 to have the first gear reconditioned!! many thanks Carl |

I experienced this on my last 318d, occasionally jumping out of first or second gear.
It may not have been related but it ended up having a new clutch and flywheel fitted, lots of other stuff started going wrong so successfully rejected the car after 9months ownership, 7000miles exdemo 09 plate lci. |

It has been fine today! :/ God knows what is going on!
Going to change the oil first to see if it makes it any smoother. Did the clutch and flywheel make any difference? Carl |

it was a 1000 mile drive away warranty. Agreed - it isn't worth the paper its printed, however they have agreed to pay for the full bill, the warranty only covers claims under £500 so this was good of them as it will probably be twice that! lol
