This is the right car
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2010-BMW-3...torefresh=true

But the guy wants too much for it. At that price, you can get 330d though.

Bang on. Just look for the 204bhp in the advert and you're there.

That's why my findings earlier based on 10/2009 cars had the same part numbers then. We got there in the end

I'm on the hunt for an LCI 330d as we speak so this is very promising.

How am I best distinguishing the 03/10 cars?

What is your opinion now? Buying LCI N57 engine which is deto copy of 330d...

I was searching it with last 7 digits of vin and hence real oem was selecting M57. You were looking at N57.
Yes, you were correct. And its N57 hunting!

I make you right as 2010 onward cars are not that cheap. Well this is my home work and when I switch my job, then I will rethink based on the mileages I will be doing.

But for the time being 325D with N57 is best bargain. Being 325d, they get less attraction so cheap compared to 330D. It is equivalent to 330D and not bad on mpg compared to 320d. Real road figures suggest that it is 5mpg less than 320d. And best part is that it can be mapped to 330 BHP.

AFAIK, you will require the last 7 digits of the VIN. Unless the car is mid - late 2010 car.

This was what i had always assumed before, that indeed, the 2 engines where the same.

In that case, the question is, why would you buy a 330d? ha..

I would say go for the 325d and tune it, as the insurance, tax is cheaper..woud be silly not too..

that is what exactly I thought. And hence started this thread.

Cheers mate.

PS: I think 330d has upgraded discs / pads and all of them have jet washers for the lights (ideal for xenon retrofit). But these two are not enough to justify the price differences b/w same age/ mileages 325d VS 330d.

The advert should give the bhp of the car and it's 204 you're looking for if you go for a 25d and want the N57. You can always check the reg on something like the mycarcheck app as well, this will give you the info too.

But please check the V5 to make sure the car actually has the N57 engine. With BMW's don't ever rely on reg dates or sales adverts. It's all about when the car was built

I do know what engine I've got!

The N57 engine came into the E92 late 2008!

The 325d got this engine much later!

I did my research before buying the car!

Before facelift on a E92/E93 but after facelift on E90 and E91. The OP is after a E91 touring which pre facelift on the E90/E91 330d had the M57 engine.

Jammy you got a nice engine. But my post was referred to introduction of N57 in 325d and more specifically E90/91.

Have you mapped your car by the way?

Bringing thread back from the dead!

Makkan - did u opt for the lci 325d in the end?

Im stuck in the same dilemma atm...originally looking for a lci 330d but most are towards the higher end of my budget...however there are a few more choices of lci 325d within my budget which of course i can remap to push similar power to a standard lci 330d which im already really happy with =)

I was in the same boat, so ended up buying pre-LCI 08 330D with M57 engine.

Morning all,

I have recently brought a 2010 325d 204ps coupe. I'm considering remapping the car to unleash the best part of 100bhp as discussed within this thread.

Before doing so I wish too upgrade the brakes on my car. I want to keep the car as eom as possible. My understanding is the the 330d and 335d use the the same brake setup.

Could someone tell me precisely what I would need to upgrade to 330d/335d spec brakes?

Many thanks,

Russ
