Got a Ticket for Rear Fogs

So tonight just now i came in from doing a quick drive in my car. Got pulled over by 2 police officers. Got a ticket for having the rear fogs. he said that he wasnt able to see the street in front of him anymore because the rear fogs were so bright that they were blinding. I told him what should i do since it is part of the car, i didnt think he would know that i added it. He said just dont use them.

you should really not use it when there's no fog or rain, to avoiding blinding traffic behind you when it's a clear night/day out.

I'm curious, how much was the ticket? Also, why did you install rear fogs - form or function?

actually tonight there was fog which is why he couldnt see anything. Because it reflected onto the fog so much that he couldnt see anything but these red lights on the back of my car. I mean when i got out for him to check my car i looked behind me and sure enough it reflected down almost a mile. So i mean...

yeah, it is definitely good in rainy and foggy conditions, make sure some tools don't follow too closely or not even see you

What an ass, a warning would have sufficed.

The purpose of fog lights is to use them in the fog, which he did. 200 is just ridiculous.

well if you're breaking the law, and get a ticket I'm not really sure where the cop is being an ass

it's not like you can argue that what you did wasn't illegal

Believe me, Im a cop as well, he was an ass, not just for stopping, but for giving him a ticket for using foglights in the fog. I would understand completely if it wasnt foggy out, that would be a different story. A warning would have sufficed on this occasion.

24602. (a) A vehicle may be equipped with not more than two red fog taillamps mounted on the rear which may be lighted, in addition to the required taillamps, only when atmospheric conditions, such as fog, rain, snow, smoke, or dust, reduce the daytime or nighttime visibility of other vehicles to less than 500 feet.

Do you think the cop had a measuring tape with him?
