No, you cannot use 64-bit Windows. The EDIABAS and INPA software contain some 16-bit and some 32-bit applications. Microsoft removed 16-bit backwards compatibility from their 64-bit Windows. You MUST use 32-bit windows.

Vas didn't say whether this was the discrepancy or not of his miscoded injectors. If it was then they were coded properly but the software automatically changed the number. The first time I started changing my injectors at my friend's shop, I had thought that 5 of my injectors were coded wrong, but they were done correctly. Now the stealership remembering the decouplers is a whole nother story...

^ Dzenno said one of his injectors did not even have values tied to it. INPA showed question marks where the values should be. So far, his misfire is gone since coding it.

This does not happen with all injectors. It happens with selected ones. I suspect this is related to a specific part number. Also, I looked at my injector part numbers and it is a parts numbers galore! I don't think I have two injectors with the same revision. Some of them even have different clamps. Again, I strongly recommend that everyone checks that their injectors have the decoupling elements aka seals. If not, those injectors will be protruding their needles further into the combustion chamber and will sit closer to the spark plug.

I don't have a cable so I can't say for sure. It only shows the <F1>, <F2> and <F10> options without the cable. Last edited by SlowerThanU; 01-23-2012 at 11:27 AM.. |

INPA will load, but when you actually start coding, it will crash on 64-bit systems.
Also, it looks like it is not communicating with the ECU. Check C:\Ediabas\Bin\obd.ini file and make sure it has the correct Com port. Once ready, copy obd.ini in the C:\Windows folder Vasil

Pretty sad if that's the case. There will always be money made for those that don't want to do it on their own and learn. There will always be a market for that. I guess I am a bottom feeder then. Lol

Found a few threads where guys were using INPA in "XP Mode" (32bit virtualized OS) on a Win7 64bit so I have my fingers crossed: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=613312 http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum...t-1749746.html http://www.forums.bimmerfest.com/sho....php?p=6489550 Last edited by SlowerThanU; 01-23-2012 at 11:53 AM.. |

Guys,
I just got another email from Bavarian Technic. I asked them yet again, to work on injector coding for N54/N55. Here is their response: Quote:

Thanks. I thought about emailing them again. Can never be too many requests. It would be a huge win for them an the community. Especially since I bet this will have to be done for all the new DI engines.

Maybe if everyone sends in another flood of email requests for this feature it will make sure it is on the top of their list. Last edited by SlowerThanU; 01-23-2012 at 02:10 PM.. |

It means this is nothing new. You guys would've known how to do this if you actually searched. The info is and has been out there.

Anyone with misfires 100% needs to do this. When the stealership installed my 2nd set of injectors they did not put a single decoupler on. I didn't notice this until I started replacing the 2nd set one by one at different times. Since replacing my 2nd set and adding the decouplers I have not had another misfire. It could've been the decouplers all along.
