My first logging and error codes :)

I did my first logging using Jb4 today and here are the results. I have been searching on how to read and understand this graphics but I haven't found anything.

First run on 3rd gear. Second run 3rd gear to almost end of 5th (traffic light).

Ones I stopped, yellow engine/limp mode came on.

2AAF Fuel Pump, plausibility
2A87 Outlet-Vanos variable cam control test, mechanics
3100 low boost mode engaged

2AAF - on my search, I've seen this is popular on tunned engines, nothing to worry about, and I even think I had this from before because I once saw the Service Engine Soon light came ON and it rapidly disappeared but I din't check for codes.
2A87 - this is caused by the Exhaust VANOS solenoid, some people say to try and clean it up before replacing it.
3100 - LIMP mode

If someone can take a look at this logs or even better point me to where I go learn this stuff it will be appreciated. This is completelly new for me and I'm trying to learn as I go.

Mods: JB4 Map 5, CAI, 5gal E85 / 8gal 93 oct. Running Jb4 for about two weeks and ethanol mix for the past 200 miles.

Thanks.

Yea your going to need to clean or replace vanos solenoids.

Also extract the log to a csv file and read it. It will give you the ability to actually read the log properly in detail, graph is worthless.

There's also really no reason to run that much e85. Ur 93 already contains 10%.

Thanks for the advises. I didn't realized the 10% ethanol lol

Agreed.

Viewing CSVs in excel/spreadsheet is helpful. However, for most people viewing it as a graph is easier to comprehend and still provides all the data you need. FAR from worthless

E85 is mixed with 93 to boost octane and for the cylinder cooling benefits. E10 93 is 93 octane with a 10% ethanol mix. E85 is roughly 107 octane. So mixing the two results in a higher average octane rating of the fuel.

Back on topic: Could you save a copy of the log as a txt and attach it?

I know I shouldn't of said worthless. But extracted it's displayed in a spread sheet form and it's easier to read each and every variable.
The graph becomes a mess when you display all the readings IMO.

Added:

And yes I know the increase of e85. I also know that most of our cars start to throw lambda error codes when near a 50/50 blend. Having the 10% already present in the gasoline makes it easy to reach that error threshold.
So it's something to just be aware of as you use e85 and continually use and refill your tank.

Also should be noted with the jb4 is that you'll produce the same power increase with a 80/20 gas/e85 blend as you will a 70/30, etc... It's just not that sensitive as of date to produce extra gains.

Not to mention while the cooling abilities of e85 are great and allow us to boost higher and have the equivalent octane rating of 105-107ish...
Its still no substitute for the real thing.
Running map 7 with a tank of say cam2 (102) octane race gas will yield more usable power.

True, I always look at the data one channel at a time and uncheck what I'm not interested in. A graph with 10+ channels displayed can be an absolute mind fuck.

Thanks for your replies guy. I'm trying to convert it to .txt but it is a mess, it has too many columns and nothing lines up. Let me see what I can do.
(csv file linked on first post)

Just rename the file to .txt instead of .csv and upload it...

LOL hi Bryce.

OP: Log looks fine. For the E85 mix around 40% is suggested for most. On the VANOS codes normally the first step is to replace the offending solenoid. GetBmwParts.com has them and its an easy swap.

I sent the Log to Terry this morning and already got a response back. He says it looks good and to replace the VANOS solenoids to get read off the 2A87 code.

Great customer service!!

Thanks Mike, you guys are the best.

Next fill up I'll be mixing 11gal 93 oct to 4gal E85 to obtain a ~42% ratio.

Edit 2: I found this website to calculate the octane after blending: http://e85prices.com/milesperdollar.htm
