Yeah, I'm an Android guy. Probably not ever going to iPhone. Alas, all the BMW stuff is Blackberry/iPhone

I like the interior the way it is. I don't have idrive on purpose. I would much rather use my portable gps which is far more reliable and has built in traffic and map upgrades for life. My wife has a Honda pilot and just got rid of an Acura RDX and I hate the sea of buttons on the dash. It takes me forever to find the button I'm looking for.

I found the 2012 maps disc pair for $20 on eBay. I was most pleased.

When I paid Carmax $300 to transfer my car from Utah to LA I didnt even look if it has an IDrive or not lol The next day I wake up to check the pictures but they are all gone. So i called them and they told me they dont know because they took the pics off. So when the car came it had no iDrive but i was like fuck it im buying this car lol allthough its nice when you have a big screen in the car.

I bought my car because it is a great driving machine. I have enough distracting screens in my life, it's nice to be able to go somewhere and do something I enjoy (driving) without another one!

I like the clean quality finish of our interiors but I think the iDrive completes it though, it just sucks when its time to update. With that said I don't think I'll go without the iDrive again.

That said, I miss it a bit when navigating the ipod. We have the idrive interface in our X5 and it's definitely easier to scroll.
Updating the maps is as easy as downloading and burning them onto a disc. Free.

Personally I love my i-drive and have always felt the interior to look a little boring without it.

I have no preference, I would have bought my 355i with or without (I bought it without.)

When I do use navigation, I am in NYC and walking/taking subway. Otherwise in CT my daily drive is 10 minutes, I use navi maybe once a month while driving, if that.

I do like the IDrive for music, though. Very easy to scroll, etc.

Not that simple on newer cars with CIC. (2009+) On old cars (2006-2008) it is that easy.

You need the FSC code from the dealer or from someone who can get you the code with BMW server access.

Wasn't aware of that. However with CIC you guys have the ability to control your Ipod/Iphone music through iDrive unit. That plus all of the other great options it has would definitely make me opt for it every time.

I don't have idrive so i don't miss it.
I like the smooth dash better than the big hump. That way i get a feeling that all the powerful stuff is on my side...this might sound weird...lol

Had iDrive and nav in every BMW I've owned since 2006. I wouldn't be without it.

Was going to get my e92 without the iDrive but found a car with it and I must say it's so much nicer with it. Like others have said, it's not about just the nav. It makes everything much easier such as adjusting settings for your lighting, locks, etc.

For me the e90 with out navi has one of the best human-machine interfaces. I can drive with gloves and I can find and control all the "critical" functions within a second. It is absolutely brilliant how function prioritization is implemented. If you ever drove at 140 mph on the autobahn you know what I am talking about. One second with your eyes off the road and you are gone. That's the beauty of simplicity on this machine. These cars are driving machines. If you bought it thinking that it is a luxury flashy car you made a mistake, that's a Lexus territory.

I got mine with idrive just for the hump and built in LCD but not for idrive. It's a much cleaner interphase for my carpc+backup cam+HD TV+iphone video+dvd than an external lilliput lcd. =)

You can torrent the newest map CD iso and burn them if you're savvy. I like the screen for all the non-navigation stuff as well. Programmable hotkeys are pretty sweet too.

I love my iDrive and navi... real time traffic updates in SoCal is crucial!!!

I also updated it with a free download from one of the threads.

Lets be honest now... if you were given the iDrive/Navi option for free, each and everyone of yall would jump on it and love it. I know sometimes money is an issue, but dont hate on it cause you dont have it.

"double hump looks mutant like" - nonsense.

I mean no disrespect, just speaking the truth.

Car looks so plain without it! It's more than a navi like others said. I love my idrive, even though I feel the navi can be a little better
