After a little too much enthusiastic driving and cooking my brakes on my e90 the brakes haven't bee right since and whenever braking the car doesn't slow like it used too with the feeling that the standard pads aren't biting as they used too,
Would a good clean of the pads surface bring them back or is it new pads time, Idrive shows 48000 left on the front.

I rarely go by what the idrive says...

I have glazed my brakes after a recent track day...

I decided that it was time to upgrade them if they couldn't handle my driving style... Definitely something you should consider.

Maybe ebc yellow pads ?

What color are the discs? Is it uniform?

my discs are currently blue... glazed to f***

but as phil said... running hard then sitting on the brakes fr too long can leave pad residue on the disc

Flex hone the glaze off from the rotors and scuff the pads too. Rebed.

Agree with Ashmostro, just give the disc braking surfaces a going over with stiff wire brush (mounted on bench grinder or a hand drill).

Dress the pad surface with a file to re key the contact surface.

Bed them in like new pads.

If you have got brakes that hot, your brake fluid may not recover so you may have to flush with new fluid.

I would not recommend this approach as it can remove considerably more material than needed, and can reduce thermal capacity as a result.

All you need to do is remove the glazed pad deposit through abrasion.

Um not sure if its the same or not, but its brake related?

Stupid question, what's wrong with them? They don't feel they bite that well either, little spongy. And that's just from normal town driving. Feels like it doesn't stop very well at all. Not snappy or powerful.

You can feel the grooves and bumps if you touched them with your finger.
The worse are the rear ones and look like shit.

iDrive says 10-20k miles left. Is that the pads or discs?

And its a 2007 E92 M3 btw

There isn't a "disc" indicator fitted, the indicator is for brake pads only. That first pic shows a massive score on the disc, me not been an expert I'd still say its fucked!

EBC brakes recommend this process and its used by most major manufacturers (including Porsche) to cure these types of issues.

They remove around 0.4mm of disc material - slightly more if its a heavily rusted/pitted disc.

I've had a quote of £96 inclusive for all 4 discs to be done - significantly less than buying new and labour to fit. Vibration is pretty unbearable when trying to stop quickly!
