Wow that is very soon! Thank you Vargas

I would love to be the first in the northeast to have this upgrade.....just saying.

Best of luck with the rest of development/production/testing/sales.

Well look what showed up today. Those would be or custom design reverse rotation billet N55 compressor wheel. You can see it next to the forward rotation sample and next to a 15T out of the N54 upgrade. They came out nice....

Identical sizing compared to the N54 15T? It is hard to tell if the size is the same from the angle of the pictures. Looks like essentially a reversed 15T to me. Lookin' good...

I predict that 335 limited slip differentials will start selling at a brisk pace soon. Putting 500 horses through that one rear wheel out of corners will be interesting.

The 15T is the smaller cast wheel, the N54's use 2 of these. The wheel that is sized indentical was just our forward rotation sample.

Should've done my research before posting I assumed that was an N54 single conversion piece, sorry. So this will utilize the stock housing with no modifications whatsoever? Trying to figure out what the theoretical limit will be...

I believe the n54 uses two of these 15T on the upgrade... A single turbo upgrade for the N54 would use something bigger than the 15T... Is this correct?

What's the comparison from the N55 to the N54 single turbo (stage 3) upgrades?

Thanks in advanced

Question

Hi Vargas.
The current progress sounds very interesting to me. Just two questions from my side with a few explanations:

1. I'm from Germany and nearly every Tuner over here states that it is nearly IMPOSSIBLE to make a stable tune for the N55 with more than 360hp (@ crank) because of the following:
  • casted rods,
  • casted pistons,
  • casted crankshaft (biggest problem).
I know, that you want to sell your product and that's O.K., but don't you see a little problem here? Do you think, the casted internals will withstand the power-output which will be generated by a new turbo?

2. German Tuners don't tune N55s build prior to 03/2011 (sometimes 09/2010 is also O.K.). Does the same account to you?
Best,
M

Wow, misinformation at it's best. It's going to be fantastic watching this BS get quoted and regurgitated.

I think the majority of us tuned N55's have more than 360 crank horsepower (~310-320whp), at least anyone running E85 or meth.

Cast internals are not a limitation at these horsepower levels or anything short of 600whp if your tune is good and your IAT's are low. It's all about balance (AFR, timing, etc). Pre-ignition/detonation kills motors. Very rarely does well-tuned horsepower break internal parts (within reason).

My response is, sounds EXACTLY like what N54 tuners said about 3-4 years ago. N54 engine was stated by people who supposedly were at the forefront of N54 tuning(most of which are vendors on this forum), to be good for about 400-450 WHP before it blew up, then came 500, then 550, then 600, we now sit at 725 thanks to our stage 3 with the engine running like a champ. Sounds to me like these "tuners" are misinformed or ignorant. In my opinion BMW isn't going to try to improve on the N54 engine which is what the N55 was and make it weaker. Even if this were the case, we are making turbo upgrades that support a certain HP. It's up to the user to tune, worry about the motor, etc. Speculation is great but lets wait and see where we end up once we have the turbos and tunes to make more then 500 WHP.
